ATAD (Journal of Academic History Research) is published electronically three times a year (April, August, December) on the ULAKBİM DergiPark platform as a peer-reviewed journal. Our journal aims to publish high-quality and original scientific studies in line with national and international academic standards.
1. General Principles
Studies submitted to ATAD must not have been previously published or submitted to another journal for publication.
Papers presented at conferences or symposiums may be published, provided that this is clearly stated.
If the article contains some of the topics from a previously published work by the author(s), this must be declared, and a copy of the previous work must be uploaded to the system along with the new submission.
All works submitted to the journal undergo a double-blind peer review process after preliminary evaluation.
2. Peer Review and Editorial Process
All manuscripts are first reviewed using the DergiPark similarity scanning program. Manuscripts with a similarity/plagiarism rate above 20% are not considered for evaluation.
The Editor or Editorial Board has the authority to reject manuscripts that do not comply with publication principles, return them for revision, or make formal adjustments.
Manuscripts deemed suitable are sent to at least two independent reviewers. Based on the reports received from the reviewers, a decision is made to accept, revise, or reject the article.
Manuscripts requested to be revised by the reviewers must be edited by the author(s) and uploaded to the system within 30 days at the latest. If this period is exceeded, the submission will be considered as a new application.
Only the corresponding author is informed about the acceptance or rejection of the manuscript.
3. Ethical and Scientific Responsibility
The ethical, scientific, and legal responsibility for the studies published in ATAD lies entirely with the author(s).
Published articles do not reflect the opinions of the editor or members of the editorial board.
Any situation contrary to the Principles of Research and Publication Ethics (plagiarism, fabricated data, unjust authorship, etc.) is strictly unacceptable.
4. Copyright and Publication Rights
No copyright fee is paid for articles published in the journal.
All publication rights for accepted works are deemed to be transferred to ATAD through the “Publication Rights Transfer Form.”
Submitted manuscripts will not be returned to authors, whether published or not.
5. Language of Publication
The languages of publication for ATAD are Turkish and English.
English abstracts are required for articles written in Turkish.
For correct and consistent use of language, authors are advised to use the dictionary and writing guide of the Turkish Language Association (www.tdk.gov.tr).
6. Authorship Criteria
All authors must sign and upload the “Publication Rights Transfer Form” to the system before the article is uploaded.
The status of authorship is only given to those who have made an intellectual, scientific, or technical contribution to the work.
Listing individuals who have not contributed as authors or excluding those who have contributed is considered an ethical violation.
The authors' contribution ratios to the article (e.g., “author contribution statement”) may be reported to the editorial board when necessary.
