The Journal of Academic History and Research (ATAD) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal that has been published since 2019 (e-ISSN: 2687-5624). The journal's stated mission is to publish original scholarly works in the social, cultural, political and economic fields where history intersects with the discipline of history, and to make these works available to readers free of charge.
ATAD has been published in accordance with a continuous publication model since 1 January 2026. It is evident that articles which have successfully completed the review and typesetting processes are published online without delay, irrespective of the issue date. These articles are subsequently collected in issues that are published in the months of April, August and December.
Submitted articles are subjected to an initial editorial pre-screening and a similarity check. Thereafter, they are evaluated by at least two expert referees in the field using a double-blind peer-review process. It is the policy of the Editorial Board that articles which have successfully completed the peer-review process shall be published following the final decision of the Editorial Board.
All content published in the journal is made available free of charge and under open access upon publication, and is published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) licence. It is important to note that no fees are levied for submission, review or publication of articles.
The views expressed in the articles are those of the authors and do not reflect the views of the journal. The authors bear full scientific and legal responsibility for their articles.
