Special Issue on Salah al-Din and Bayt al-Maqdis

The journal calls for manuscripts or proposals to explore Salah al-Din and Bayt al-Maqdis for a special issue that will be published in 2023. Authors are invited to publish their original research, in the first and only peer-reviewed journal in its field, the ‘Journal of Islamicjerusalem Studies’ (JIJS), which is Index in a number of international indexes such as DOAJ, Index Islamicus, Ulrichsweb and asos. The Journal provides an interdisciplinary forum for the publication of historical, theological, empirical, theoretical, conceptual or cultural themes and topics on Bayt al-Maqdis.

This special issue covers the work of academics interested in the subject. Papers may draw on historical examples to explore some aspect of the themes outlined here, but are not limited to them:.

  • The upbringing of Salah al-Din,
  • Crusader-Muslim Relations (political, social, commercial, diplomatic) in the period of Salah al-Din,
  • Salah al-Din’s struggle against the Crusaders,
  • Salah al-Din's policy for Islamic unity,
  • Salah al-Din's Fath/liberation of Bayt al-Maqdis,
  • Leadership of Salah al-Din,
  • Construction activities in the holy city during the reign of Salah al-Din,
  • Multicultural life after the Fath/liberation,
  • Educational life and madrasahs after the Fath/liberation,
  • The political and strategic status of Bayt al-Maqdis

Papers should be a maximum of 8,000 words. Submissions should be made before 15 July 2023 on Journal Park: www.dergipark.org.tr/en/pub/beytulmakdis. While submitting the paper please state that the manuscript is to be considered for this special issue. All submitted articles will undergo a double-blind review process.
