Artificial Intelligence Policy
CAKUJTS supports the ethical, transparent, and responsible use of artificial intelligence technologies. In this regard, the artificial intelligence policy has been prepared in accordance with ethical publishing principles and the Ethical Guide on the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Research and Publication Activities (2024) published by the Türkiye Higher Education Council. Accordingly, the following points should be considered regarding the use of artificial intelligence:
Editors cannot have submitted articles reviewed by artificial intelligence during the evaluation process, nor can they request reports. When using artificial intelligence assistance, the responsibility lies entirely with the editor. The editor must consider potential biased evaluations and errors arising from artificial intelligence when evaluating the content used. The appropriate use of content generated by artificial intelligence is the ethical responsibility of the editor. The editor must follow current policies regarding artificial intelligence and current data on the use of artificial intelligence in academic work.
Reviewers should not upload the texts and content sent to them during the evaluation process to any artificial intelligence tool, nor should they engage in behavior that violates confidentiality and intellectual property rights. The use of artificial intelligence-based feedback should be avoided in the preparation of reviewer evaluation reports. If a reviewer determines that the article they are evaluating was generated by artificial intelligence, they should report this to the editor. If deemed necessary, they should comment on the scientific quality and ethical compliance of the artificial intelligence contribution to the work.
Authors may use AI-powered tools (such as grammar checkers or search engines) during the writing process to improve grammar, spelling, or structure. It is not mandatory to declare the use of such AI support. The author is responsible for the academic ethics and scientific appropriateness of the article. The latest and updated version of the article should be reviewed by the authors and any possible errors should be corrected. On the other hand, in the case of generative AI usage (e.g., text, visual, etc. content), the use of generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) should be clearly stated and indicated in the “Methods” and “Acknowledgments” sections. The content produced must be checked for copyright infringement. At this point, source citation and ethical use are essential. Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authors must ensure the accuracy of the content and that the scientific contribution is their own. In studies requiring ethics committee approval, clear information regarding AI usage must be provided.
Authors may not have any part or the entirety of the article written by artificial intelligence. They may not generate fake sources or invalid citations. They may not produce or interpret research data for use in the article. They may not upload personal data without anonymizing it.
Failure to declare the use of artificial intelligence or detection of unethical use may result in the suspension of the writing process and the cancellation of evaluations. In cases of serious or repeated violations, the author's future submissions may not be accepted. In particular, situations such as failure to declare AI-generated content, creation of fake sources, or violation of ethics committee processes may result in disciplinary action (YÖK AI Usage Guide pp. 13, 19).
Plagiarism Policy
In accordance with CAKUJTS publication ethics, a similarity ratio is required for submitted articles. The similarity ratio in articles, excluding the “References” section, should not exceed 20%. Articles exceeding this ratio will be returned to the author during the preliminary review stage. If studies exceeding this ratio are detected after author revisions, a revision may be requested, the writing process may be suspended, or the article may be rejected. When submitting an article, the author is expected to use one of the iThenticate, Turnitin, or İntihal.net software. On the other hand, authors submitting articles are offered an automatic similarity report service through Dergipark. If the similarity ratio is not detected, contact the editor.
Similarity reports are checked by the editor and the field editor. After the author's revisions, the editor obtains another similarity report during the final reading phase. In addition, reviewers and field editors can also obtain the plagiarism report for the work during the scientific evaluation process.
