The journal’s aim is to contribute to the field of music and dance by publishing qualified scientific works and becoming one of the national and international representatives of music and dance researches.

EJMD publishes peer-reviewed research reports on music and dance bringing together research conducted within a variety of disciplines. Articles include theoretical essays; research papers; case reports; and historical research related to all music and dance issues. In addition to original research, the journal features both articles and book reviews.

General Format Properties


General Principals: The Eurasian Journal of Music and Dance (EJMD)[1], founded in 2011, is the official open-access, double-blind peer-reviewed journal of Ege University State Conservatory of Turkish Music in Turkey. The previous issues of the journal where articles in Turkish and English are published biannually (June-December) can be found at http://konservatuvar.ege.edu.tr/d-1520/sayilar.html and https://dergipark.org.tr/konservatuvardergisi.

Only the articles that weren’t published anywhere before are accepted for publication. Papers presented in academic symposiums can be published by giving the necessary information of the organization where the paper was presented. If the paper was published in a proceeding book it won’t be accepted for publication. For the articles supported by a research organization/foundation the relevant information (organization’s name, project’s name, date and number) should be included in the article.

Content: EJMD publishes peer-reviewed research reports on music and dance bringing together research conducted within a variety of disciplines. Articles include theoretical essays; research papers; case reports; and historical research related to all music and dance issues. In addition to original research, the journal features both articles and book reviews.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: music theory and analysis, history of music, musicology, ethnomusicology, performing arts, choreology, ethnochoreology, music education, music technologies, organology and any other interdisciplinary field providing benefit to music/dance researches.

Editorial Process: Firstly, the articles submitted are evaluated by the editorial management in terms of scope, subject, content and spelling. If it is approved by the editorial management, the article is sent to two refries (book and academic organization reviews are assessed by one referee) for academic evaluation. Personal information concerning both the author and the referee are hidden during the process. If one of the referees’ assessment is positive and the other is negative, either the article is sent to a third referee or the editorial board make a decision based on the existing reports. The reports are saved for two years. The authors make necessary changes according to the suggestions of the referees. The author who doesn’t agree with the ideas of the referee should give a written report on his/her objections. The articles approved will be published in any forthcoming issue of the journal. The journal doesn’t give a written document for the articles approved for publication.
