All articles published in the Electronic Journal of Social Sciences are peer-reviewed, and each study submitted for publication goes through the peer review process described below. Research and Publication Ethics are complied with in the articles.
Preliminary Evaluation
All manuscripts submitted to the journal are first subjected to preliminary evaluation by the journal secretariat. Manuscripts that do not fall within the scope of the journal or do not comply with the journal's writing format are either returned to the author or corrections may be requested from the author without starting the refereeing process.
In the journal, similarity scanning is performed using the software Intihal.net. This rate is expected to be at most 20% in the controls made during the pre-control phase. Studies exceeding this rate will be returned to the author or the author may be asked for correction.
Articles whose first language is English are sent to the foreign language editor. Manuscripts that pass the preliminary evaluation are sent to the editor-in-chief. This process takes 3-4 weeks on average.
Referee Policy
In the Electronic Journal of Social Sciences, a double blind refereeing system is applied at every stage of the process, in which the names of the referees and authors are kept confidential.
Manuscripts that pass the preliminary evaluation stage are sent to the editor or field editor by the chief editor. The Editor or Field Editor sends the manuscript to at least 2 referees who are experts in their fields. Care is taken to ensure that the referees to be selected are not from the institutions where the authors work. The referees are invited by sending an e-mail whether they can evaluate the study or not. The referee's response period is 7 days. If the referee cannot respond within this period, the period is extended at most 2 times. If no response is received again, a new referee is appointed. Referees evaluate the articles they accept in line with the headings in the referee evaluation form. In the event that the referees express an opinion of acceptance without any criticism, the article is sent to a new referee. The article is sent to the author to make the suggested corrections after the reviewers' criticisms. After at least two of the referees give a publishable opinion, the article is checked by the editor/field editor to see whether the suggested corrections have been made. If the referee does not want to check again after the corrections and the referee's suggestions have been made, the manuscript is first sent to the “final control” for abstract control and other checks, and then to the author again (for correction and control before publication, if any). The final copy received from the author is queued for publication. If the article receives a rejection report from two referees, it is rejected from decision and the fee is refunded. The publication process takes 4-6 months on average.
Articles are queued for publication according to the date of arrival to the journal.
