QUESTION: Is Ethics Committee approval required for all articles?

ANSWER:
No. As stated in the criteria, Ethics Committee approval is required only for specific types of articles.

Research requiring Ethics Committee approval includes the following:

Any research involving qualitative or quantitative approaches that require data collection from participants using techniques such as surveys, interviews, focus group studies, observations, experiments, or interviews.

Research involving the use of humans and animals (including materials/data) for experimental or other scientific purposes.

Clinical research conducted on humans.

Research conducted on animals.

Retrospective studies in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Law.

Additionally:

For case reports, it must be stated that an "Informed Consent Form" was obtained.

For the use of scales, questionnaires, or photographs belonging to others, permission must be obtained from the owners and clearly stated.

For the use of intellectual and artistic works, compliance with copyright regulations must be declared.

QUESTION: Is retrospective Ethics Committee approval required for studies and publications derived from theses completed in previous years?

ANSWER:
No. Retrospective Ethics Committee approval is not required for studies that:

Used research data collected before 2020.

Were derived from master's/doctoral theses (this must be stated in the article).
