Peer-Review Process

All manuscripts must be submitted exclusively through the DergiPark Article Management System. Submissions via e-mail are not accepted.

1. Preliminary Check and Plagiarism Screening

Upon receipt, each manuscript is assessed for compliance with JSCAI’s Author Guidelines and formatting requirements. To ensure originality and prevent academic misconduct, all submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software (e.g., iThenticate, Turnitin).

  • Maximum overall similarity index: 20% (excluding references)
  • Maximum similarity from a single source: 3%

Manuscripts exceeding these thresholds will be either returned to the author for revision or rejected without review. If the manuscript is resubmitted after revision, this stage is completed within 15 days.

2. Editorial Review
Following the similarity check, the assigned Editor evaluates the manuscript for:

  • Alignment with the journal’s scope and aims
  • Scientific merit, originality, and contribution to the field
  • Clarity, coherence, and quality of English

This evaluation is typically completed within 5 days. Based on reviewer recommendations and editorial judgment:

  • Major Revision: The revised manuscript is returned to the original reviewers for reassessment.
  • Minor Revision or Acceptance: If revisions are adequate, the manuscript proceeds to language editing.
  • Insufficient Revision: The manuscript is returned to the author or rejected.

All editorial decisions and version histories are archived within the DergiPark system for transparency.

3. Double-Blind Peer Review
JSCAI employs a double-blind peer review process:

  • Reviewers remain anonymous to authors.
  • Authors remain anonymous to reviewers.

Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent experts in the relevant field. Anonymized review reports are securely stored in the system.

Reviewer timelines:
  • Accept/decline review invitation: within 7 days
  • Complete review: within 30 days (extensions of up to 7 days may be granted)

4. Author Revisions
Authors must address all reviewer and editor comments thoroughly. In case of disagreement, authors may submit a justified response. Revised manuscripts must be uploaded to the system within the allocated time frame:

  • Minor Revisions: 15 days
  • Major Revisions: 30 days

Generally, a maximum of two revision rounds is permitted.

5. English Language Review
Manuscripts accepted after peer review are examined by the Language Editor. Authors may be asked to make additional language improvements. This stage is finalized within 7 days.

6. Editorial Board Decision
Manuscripts that pass all prior evaluations are reviewed by the Editorial Board for final approval. If there are differing opinions among board members, decisions are made by majority vote.

7. Production and Publication
Accepted manuscripts enter the production workflow, which includes typesetting, layout, and final proof preparation. Authors review proofs before final online publication.

Editorial Timeline

  • Initial Editorial Screening: within 5 days
  • Peer Review Process: approximately 75 days
  • Editorial Decision Notification: typically within 6–10 weeks
  • Total Time to Publication: average 120 days from submission

All review processes are conducted within the DergiPark platform, ensuring transparency, efficient communication, and strict adherence to the ethical standards of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
