AI Policy

With the increasing use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in scholarly publishing, the Journal of Soft Computing and Artificial Intelligence (JSCAI) has established the following ethical principles and guidelines to ensure transparency, integrity, and accountability.

For Authors

  • Permissible Use: Authors may use generative AI tools solely for improving language clarity, grammar, and overall readability. AI tools cannot be credited as authors. Authorship is reserved exclusively for individuals who meet established authorship criteria.
  • Disclosure Requirement: Any use of AI tools must be transparently declared in the AI Statement section of the submission form, specifying the name of the tool(s) and the exact purpose of use.
  • Accountability: Authors bear full responsibility for all AI-generated content. Such content must be verified for accuracy, originality, and compliance with ethical standards. AI outputs may contain errors, biases, or misleading information; therefore, they must be critically reviewed before inclusion in the manuscript.
  • Prohibited Uses: AI tools must not be used to generate research data, perform analysis, or produce interpretations without full human oversight and verification.

For Reviewers

  • Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat all submitted manuscripts as strictly confidential. Uploading any portion of a manuscript or review report into AI tools is strictly prohibited, as it may compromise confidentiality, violate intellectual property rights, or breach data protection regulations.
  • Integrity of the Review Process: All reviewer reports must be based on the reviewer’s independent assessment. AI tools should not be used to draft, modify, or generate peer review reports.
  • Ethical Responsibility: Reviewers are accountable for the accuracy, fairness, and objectivity of their evaluations and must immediately notify the editorial team if any ethical concerns arise.

For Editors

  • Confidential Handling: Editors must not upload any manuscript content or related correspondence into AI systems, as this may risk confidentiality and breach publication ethics.
  • Editorial Decision-Making: AI tools must not be used to generate editorial decisions or recommendations. All editorial judgments must be made by qualified human editors.
  • Monitoring Compliance: Editors are responsible for ensuring that AI use disclosed by authors complies with the journal’s policy and for investigating potential violations.

Enforcement
Failure to comply with this policy may result in:

  • Rejection of the manuscript during the editorial process.
  • Retraction of published articles in cases of severe ethical breaches.
  • Notification to the author’s affiliated institution when warranted.
