Aim & Scope
KSU Medical Journal is the scientific official journal of the Kahramanmaras Sutcu Imam University Faculty of Medicine. KSU Medical Journal is an international, double-blind, bias-free, peer-reviewed online publishing journal. The journal aims to reach all national and international medical institutions and researchers.
KSU Medical Journal have the highest ethical and scientific standards and no commercial concerns in the articles. The Editorial Board Works within the framework of the International Medical Journal Editors Council (ICMJE) and Editorial Ethical Principles Commission (COPE) principles. In order to be published, the articles must not have been submitted for publication and not previously published elsewhere. Types of articles accepted for publication in the journal are original research articles, case reports, and reviews. No article processing charge or publication fee is requested from the owners of scientific works published in the KSU Medical Journal. The evaluation process of the manuscript is completed within 8 weeks at the latest. All responsibility for the opinions and results of the articles published in the KSU Medical Journal belongs to the authors. Journal editors and editorial board do not accept any responsibility for the reliability and results of the research data. KSU Medical Journal is published every 4 months (March, July, and November), 3 issues per year. The language of the journal is both in Turkish and English. Plagiarism rules are followed by the journal. The journal recommends that all of our authors obtain their own ORCID identifier which will be included in their article.
Open access policy: The journal publishes fully open access issues, which means that all articles are available on the internet to all users as soon as they are published. Based on the principle of making research available to the public free of charge, this journal provides immediate open access to its content that supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. By “open access” to this [research] literature, we mean its free availability on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself. The only constraint on reproduction and distribution and the only role for copyright in this domain is be to give authors control over the integrity of their work and the right to be properly acknowledged and cited.

Ethical Principles and Publication Policy
While creating the ethical duties and responsibilities below, it has been prepared by taking into account the guidelines and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) as open access.
Authors' Responsibilities;
* The publication processes implemented in KSU Medical Journal are the basis for the development and distribution of information in an impartial and respectful manner. The processes applied in this direction directly reflect the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support the authors. Peer-reviewed studies are studies that embody and support the scientific method. At this point, it is important that all stakeholders of the process (authors, readers and researchers, publishers, referees and editors) comply with the standards of ethical principles.
* Within the scope of KSU Medical Journal publishing ethics, all stakeholders are expected to bear the following ethical responsibilities. It is expected that the studies submitted by the authors will be original. If authors make use of other studies or use other studies, they must cite and / or cite completely and accurately.
Those who do not contribute to the content intellectually in the creation of the study should not be specified as authors.
The situations and relationships of all works submitted for publication that may constitute a conflict of interest, if any, should be explained.
* In the framework of evaluation processes, the authors may be asked for raw data regarding their articles, in such a case, the authors should be ready to present the expected data and information to the editorial board and scientific board. Authors must have a document showing that they have the rights to use the data used, that they have the necessary permissions for the research / analysis or that the consent of the experimental subjects has been obtained. Authors have an obligation to cooperate with the editor in informing, correcting or withdrawing the journal editor or publisher if they notice a mistake or mistake about their published, early appearance or evaluation work. * Authors cannot have their work in the application process of more than one journal at the same time. Each application can be started following completion of the previous application. A study published in another journal cannot be sent to the Journal of Historical Studies. Changing the author responsibilities of a study whose evaluation process has started (such as adding authors, changing the order of authors, removing authors) cannot be proposed.
Editors' Responsibilities;
* KSU Medical Journal editors and field editors, on the basis of "COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors" and "COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors" published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) as open access, the following ethical duty and should have responsibilities. Editors are responsible for every publication published in the KSU Medical Journal. In the context of this responsibility, editors have the following roles and responsibilities:
* Making an effort to meet the information needs of readers and writers, Continuous improvement of the journal, Conducting the processes to improve the quality of the studies published in the journal, Supporting freedom of thought, Ensuring academic integrity, Continuing business processes without compromising intellectual property rights and ethical standards, Showing clarity and transparency in terms of publication in matters that require correction and explanation. Editors should make decisions by considering the knowledge, skill and experience expectations of all readers, researchers and practitioners. The published studies should be paid attention to the readers, researchers, practitioners and contributors to the scientific literature and to be original. In addition, editors are obliged to take into account the feedback from readers, researchers and practitioners and to provide explanatory and informative feedback. * Editors should make a positive or negative decision based on the importance, original value, validity, clarity of expression, and the journal's goals and objectives. Unless the studies that are suitable for the scope of the publication do not have serious problems, they should be taken into the pre-evaluation stage. Editors should not ignore positive referee suggestions unless there is a serious problem with the work. New editors should not change the decisions made by the previous editor (s) regarding the work unless there is a serious problem.
The "Double-Blind Review and Evaluation Process" must be published and editors must prevent any deviations that may occur in the defined processes.
Descriptive and informative notification and feedback should be provided to the authors.
* Referees should determine in accordance with the subject of the study.
It is obliged to provide the information and guides that the referees will need during the evaluation phase.
It has to observe whether there is a conflict of interest among the authors and referees.
In the context of the double blind refereeing system, the identity information of the referees should be kept confidential.
Encourage referees to consider working in an impartial, scientific and objective language.
It should determine practices and policies that improve the performance of referees.
Take the necessary steps to dynamically update the referee pool.
It should prevent impolite and unscientific evaluation.
Steps should be taken to ensure that the referee pool is made up of a broad spectrum.
Editors should ensure that all editorial board members advance the processes in accordance with editorial policies and guidelines. The editorial board should inform its members about the publication policies and keep them informed of the developments.
* Editorial board members should ensure that they evaluate the work impartially and independently.
Identify new editorial board members who are able to contribute and are appropriate.
The editorial board should send the appropriate studies of the members' field for evaluation.
It should interact with the editorial board regularly.
It should organize meetings with the editorial board at regular intervals for the development of publishing policies and the journal.
Relations with the journal owner and publisher
* The relationship between editors and publisher is based on the principle of editorial independence. In accordance with the written agreement between the editors and the publisher, all decisions taken by the editors are independent of the publisher and the journal owner.
Editors; It is obliged to ensure the protection of personal data regarding the subjects or images in the evaluated studies. Unless the express consent of the individuals used in the studies is documented, it is responsible for refusing to work. In addition, the editors; is responsible for protecting the individual data of the author, referee and readers.
Referees' Responsibilities;
* The evaluation of all studies by "Double-Blind Refereeing" directly affects the quality of the publication. This process provides confidence through objective and independent evaluation of the publication. The KSU Medical Journal evaluation process is carried out on the basis of double-blind review. Referees cannot contact the authors directly, evaluations and comments are submitted through the journal management system. In this process, referee comments on evaluation forms and full texts are sent to the author (s) through the editor. * Can only use the final versions of the studies after they are published. He should make the assessment objectively only in relation to the content of the study. It should not allow nationality, gender, religious beliefs, political beliefs, and commercial concerns to influence the assessment. The assessment should be made in a constructive and courteous language. He should not make derogatory personal comments that contain hostility, slander and insult. They must perform the work they have accepted to evaluate, in a timely manner and with the above ethical responsibilities. Article evaluation; It is aimed to complete the evaluation processes of the articles sent to the KSU Medical journal within 8 to 12 weeks. In unusual cases, this period may sometimes be longer.
Correction and withdrawal processes;
* Articles submitted to KSU Medical Journal cannot be withdrawn after the referee process has begun or because they have been submitted to another journal. Authors can withdraw their manuscript that has not been refereed with a petition stating that they want to retract the manuscript by contacting the journal editors. Unless the retraction request is approved by the editorial board, authors cannot send their articles to another journal for evaluation.
Editors initially assume that the authors base their work on honest observations. If there are situations that require correction or correction of typo errors in the articles, the corrections are included in the contents page on a numbered page. Includes original citations; it will be correlated with the original article (similarly if on-line). If there is scientific fraud, the journal should publish a retraction letter. As an alternative to retraction, the editor may choose to issue a statement of concern about the composition and appearance of the work.
* The statement of retraction or concern appears on a numbered page in a prominent section of the journal, listed on the table of contents, and includes the title of the original article at its introduction, as well as the on-line version. The text of the retraction explains the reason for the retraction of the article.
Advertising policy:
No submission, processing, page, colored figures or publication charges are received from authors or elsewhere. All articles are freely available as early online and on the day of publication on the journal’s DergiPark website. KSU medical journal articles are Open Access ; they are free to read without a subscription and copyright remains with the authors.
Sponsorship and Advertising
As part of its publication policies, the journal does not accept sponsorship or advertisements.
Price Policy
Publication fee policy: KSU Medical Journal does not charge authors for submission, processing and printing fees. KSU Medical Journal is an open access journal for all articles published free of charge. Articles published in the journal are freely read and reused as soon as they are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 (CC BY NC ND) license.
