Author Guide

Marmara University Journal of Turkology (MUJOT) (TR: Marmara Türkiyat Araştırmaları Dergisi (MUTAD)), is an open access, biannual peer-reviewed academic journal publishing articles issued by Marmara University Institute of Turkic Studies (Göztepe Yerleşkesi, 34722, Kadıköy, İstanbul / Türkiye).

MUJOT publishes scientific studies such as research articles, review articles; historiographic studies, archival and monographic source publications, scholarly translation and transcriptions, bibliography and chronologies, book and thesis reviews, interviews and obituary studies along with announcements about related subjects about Turkic World particularly in the fields of language, culture, literature, history, folklore, geography and art.

Articles sent to MUJOT should be scientific and original and should not be previously published, accepted or submitted to elsewhere. Papers presented previously in a scientific organization, congress, conference or symposium can be accepted only in the following cases: the author(s) clearly indicate it in the article; it was not previously published as a full-text, and the text and its content turned into the article format.

Articles should be sent to the e-mail address of MUJOT (mutad@marmara.edu.tr) or should be uploaded to the journal website (https://dergipark.org.tr/tr/pub/mtad) by 15 April for June issues and by 15 October for December issues. In translations of scientific articles, the original text should also be sent. All the correspondences about article publication will be exchanged via mutad@marmara.edu.tr.

Authors are responsible for their language, expression style and content scientifically and legally in all publications of MUJOT.




The Procedure for Evaluation and Publication of the Articles

The works sent to MUJOT are first examined according to the journal’s writing rules, the second phase is the review by the editor regarding the compliance with the journal’s aim and scope. Next comes the blind review process by two referees. If one referee opinion is positive and the other is negative, the work can be sent to a third referee or the editorial board, expert board member or the editor can make the final decision by evaluating the reports. Referee evaluation reports are stored for a five years period. Author(s) shall take referee, editorial board, expert board member or the editor’s opinions, advices and evaluations into consideration. Authors(s) are expected to comply with the appointed changes studiously. If there arises a disagreement about the imposed changes, the author(s) have the right to object with reasons, -the final say belongs to the editor/editorial board in such matters- or to withdraw their works. The announcement of evaluation results does not exceed three months. The works are to be published only after the changes/comments of the referee and/or the editor are implemented by the author(s).

The author’s rights of all publications belong to the journal; they are not to be published elsewhere or not quoted completely or partially without proper citation. No fee is charged by MUJOT for either evaluation or publication processes. No payment is rendered to the author(s) as well.

All submitted works to MUJOT must accord to the national and international publication ethics.

Language of Publication


MUJOT’s language of publication is Turkish. MUJOT also publishes articles in English and Russian.

Writing Rules

Articles should comply with journal’s aim and scope, make contribution to the field and meet high academic standards. They have to contain abstract and keywords and bibliography. Abstract and keywords should be in accordance with international standards. Sources such as “Keywords List” from TR Dizin can be accessed to his end. Rules in Turkish Language Association’s Spelling Manual must be followed in Turkish articles.

Articles written in Russian have to include Turkish and English title, name(s) of author(s), abstract, keywords and a bibliography all in Roman alphabet in order to raise the article’s national and international impact.

Research and review articles should not exceed 10.000 words.
