Plagiarism Policy

• Ethical violations such as plagiarism and theft of work are unacceptable to the Marmara University Journal of Turkology. It is primarily the responsibility of the author(s) to prevent such violations in the submitted manuscripts.
• All manuscripts submitted to the journal are subjected to the iThenticate programme and a similarity report is obtained before they are included in the evaluation process. If the report shows a similarity rate of 25% or more, the editor has the right to reject the manuscript without including it in the evaluation process by informing the author of the result of the report.

The journal attaches great importance to intellectual property rights and aims to protect and promote the original work of its authors. Plagiarised manuscripts are contrary to the standards of quality, research and innovation. Therefore, all authors submitting manuscripts to the journal are expected to abide by the Code of Ethics and avoid all forms of plagiarism. If a submitted or published manuscript is suspected of plagiarism, the journal's Editorial Board will first review the paper. The manuscript is then reviewed by the specialty editors of the journal. Within 15 days, the journal will contact the author(s) to seek clarification, and if no response is received within the specified time, the author's university will be contacted and asked to investigate the allegation.

The journal will take the following action on the published article found to contain plagiarism:

The journal will contact the university with which the author(s) are affiliated to take final action against the author(s).
The journal will remove the PDF copy of the plagiarised article from its website, remove it from the full file and credits of the issue, and disable all links to the article. In addition, the words "Plagiarised Article" will be added to the title of the article and the author will be banned from the journal indefinitely.
