Marmara University Journal of Turkology (MUJOT) publishes scientific studies such as research articles, review articles; historiographic studies, archival and monographic source publications, scholarly translation and transcriptions, bibliography and chronologies, book and thesis reviews, interviews and obituary studies along with announcements about related subjects about Turkic World particularly in the fields of language, culture, literature, history, folklore, geography and art.

Special Issue on the Mughal Empire – October 2027

Marmara University Journal of Turkology is preparing a Special Issue on the Mughal Empire, scheduled for publication in October 2027.

The Mughal Empire holds a significant place in Turkish, Islamic, and world history, as well as in the history and cultural heritage of the Indian subcontinent. It offers a rich and multifaceted field of research encompassing a wide range of disciplines, including history, literature, language, culture, art, architecture, intellectual history, and civilization studies.

This special issue aims to bring together original and high-quality scholarly contributions from various disciplines that examine the Mughal Empire and the broader Mughal world from diverse perspectives. In addition to studies addressing the historical, political, military, administrative, social, economic, and religious dimensions of the Mughal Empire, contributions focusing on literature, language, culture, art, architecture, music, intellectual thought, science, and civilization will also be considered.

Original academic studies from all disciplines will be considered, without restriction as to subject matter, provided that they are directly related to the Mughal Empire and the Mughal world.

Manuscript submissions will be accepted between 1 January 2027 and 1 May 2027 through the DergiPark submission system:

Submitted manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with the journal’s publication policies and author guidelines. All submissions will undergo the journal’s standard peer-review process in accordance with its editorial and evaluation procedures.

MUJOT’s language of publication is Turkish. MUJOT also publishes articles in English and Russian. 

HISTORY

MUJOT has started its publication activities as a semi-annual, refereed/academic, printed and electronic journal published by Marmara University Institute of Turkic Studies. MUJOT was founded in 2014 by Prof. Dr. Gülşen Seyhan Alışık while she was the Director of the Institute. While the owner of the journal was Prof. Dr. Gülşen Seyhan Alışık on behalf of Marmara University Institute of Turkic Studies in 2014-2015, Prof. Dr. Okan Yeşilot has been the owner since the Fall of 2015. The journal was published as Spring and Autumn issues between 2014-2016 -the first six issues- and has been published twice a year as June and December issues since 2017. Since 2018, MUJOT has been published only as an electronic journal.
