Scientific studies submitted to Marmara University Journal of Turkologymust be original in the field of Turcology and must not have been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. The journal publishes scientific studies related to the Turkish world, especially Turkish language, culture, literature, history, folklore, geography and art. Acceptance or rejection of such articles is made by the Editorial Board.
The publication languages of the journal are Turkish, English and Russian, and the publication of studies in other languages depends on the decision of the Editorial Board. The intellectual and scientific responsibility of the published articles lies with their authors/translators. Translations should be submitted together with the original text and the author of the article must have the permission of the author of the original article for the work to be evaluated. For translated manuscripts to be published in the journal, translators must provide written permission from the author or person/organisation holding the publishing rights.
Authors should provide their titles, ORCID numbers, institutions where they work, contact addresses, city/country of residence and email addresses.
Manuscripts submitted to the Marmara University Journal of Turkology are subjected to a preliminary evaluation by the Editorial Board in terms of publication principles and spelling rules. During this evaluation process, articles prepared in formats that do not comply with the principles of the journal will not be included in the peer review process.
After the preliminary evaluation, the manuscripts are subjected to a plagiarism check. Manuscripts with more than 25% similarity will not be evaluated and will not be sent to the referee.
Authors accept that their manuscripts have been reviewed and are ready for publication. Manuscripts that do not meet scientific standards and contain significant spelling errors will be rejected by the Editorial Board. Manuscripts that have been peer-reviewed and passed the plagiarism check are sent to at least two referees in a blind peer-review process, with the authors' names concealed. The authors are not informed of the referees and changes can be made in accordance with the corrections specified in the referee report.
If a referee's report is unfavourable, the manuscript is sent to a third referee. Manuscripts that do not receive favourable reports from at least two referees will not be accepted by the journal. Unpublished manuscripts will not be returned to the author.
Manuscripts that are not returned for peer review will be published in the next issue of the journal, unless otherwise requested by the author.
MUJOT publishes scientific studies such as research articles, review articles; historiographic studies, archival and monographic source publications, scholarly translation and transcriptions, bibliography and chronologies, book and thesis reviews, interviews and obituary studies along with announcements about related subjects about Turkic World particularly in the fields of language, culture, literature, history, folklore, geography and art.
