Access to the journal is entirely free. Since the journal's first issue, all published articles have been open access. The journal follows the Budapest Open Access Initiative.

Articles published in The Journal of Ottoman Civilization Studies are available as open access under either the CC BY-NC (Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License) or the CC BY (Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License), depending on the author's preference. The license chosen by the author(s) will be included in the PDF version of the article.
