Publication Ethics
The ethical duties and responsibilities listed below in the Journal of Agriculture Faculty (JAF) of the Isparta University of Applied Sciences were prepared by taking into account the guidelines and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) as open access. With the ULAKBİM decision dated February 25, 2020, “For all branches of science, separate ETHICS COMMITTEE APPROVAL must be obtained for clinical and experimental studies on humans and animals that require an ethics committee decision, and this approval must be stated and documented in the article.” The authors must pay attention to this issue. Publications that do not meet this condition will not be accepted.
Authors' Ethical Responsibilities
Author(s) who submit a manuscript to Isparta University of Applied Sciences Journal of Agriculture Faculty (JAF) are expected to comply with the following ethical responsibilities:
- The manuscripts submitted by the author(s) are expected to be original. In cases where the author(s) benefit from or use other articles or differentiated sources (online or printed books, technical reports, symposium Proceedings, or open-source software, etc.) they must refer to and/or cite them completely and accurately.
- People who do not contribute intellectually to the content of the manuscript should not be indicated as co-authors.
- Any situations and relationships that may constitute a conflict of interest, when submitted manuscript for publication should be disclosed.
- Metafile data regarding their articles may be requested from the author(s) within the framework of the evaluation processes, and in such a case, the author(s) should be ready to present the expected data and information to the editorial board and scientific board.
- Author(s) must have a document showing that they have the rights to use the data used, that they have the necessary permissions for the research/analysis, or that the consent of the experimental subjects has been obtained.
- If the author(s) discover a mistake or error in their published, early appearance, or evaluation work, they are obliged to inform the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor in the correction or retraction process.
- Authors cannot have their work in the application process of more than one journal at the same time. Each application can be started after the previous application is completed. Authors should not submit to the Journal of Agricultural Sciences (JAF) a manuscript that has been submitted to another journal or is under consideration by another journal.
- It is not possible to propose changes to the author's responsibilities of a work that has started the evaluation process (such as adding an author, changing the order of authors, or removing authors)
General Duties and Ethical Responsibilities of Editors
The editorial boards and associate editors of the Journal of Agriculture Faculty (JAF) of the Isparta University of Applied Sciences are expected to adhere to the following ethical responsibilities, which are based on the guides "COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors" and "COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors," published as open access by Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
In general, editors are responsible for each study published in the Journal of Agriculture Faculty (JAF) of the Isparta University of Applied Sciences. In this regard, the editors are tasked with the following responsibilities:
- Meeting the knowledge demands of both readers and authors.
- Promoting the journal's continuous growth and development.
- Implementing processes to enhance the quality of published studies.
- Upholding and supporting freedom of expression.
- Ensuring adherence to principles of academic integrity.
- Maintaining strict compliance with intellectual property rights and ethical standards.
- Acting with transparency and clarity in matters requiring corrections or explanations.
Relationships with Readers
In the decision process, editors should consider the knowledge, skills, and expectations of readers, researchers, and reviewers. Editors are responsible for ensuring that published studies are original and contribute meaningfully to the existing body of literature. Furthermore, editors should proactively engage with feedback from researchers and reviewers, providing clear and informative responses.
Relationships with Authors
Editors should make decisions based on the significance, originality, validity, clarity of expression, and alignment of the study with the journal's aims and scope, whether positive or negative.
Studies that fit the journal's scope and do not present significant problems should proceed to the reviewing process.
Unless a study has a significant issue, editors should not disregard favorable recommendations from reviewers.
New editors should not alter decisions made by previous editors regarding a study unless there is a substantial problem.
The "Double-Blind Peer Review and Evaluation Process" must be transparently published, and editors should work to prevent any deviations from the defined processes.
Editors should provide a detailed "Author Guide" that includes all aspects authors might need to know. This guide should be updated periodically.
Authors should receive clear, informative, and explanatory notifications and feedback from the editors.
Relationships with the Editorial Board
Editors should ensure that all editorial board members follow the processes following the editorial policies and guidelines. Editors should inform the editorial board members about editorial policies and keep them informed of developments. Furthermore, Editors should educate new editorial board members about editorial policies and provide them with the information they need.
In addition to the above, editors;
- Ensure that editorial board members evaluate the work impartially and independently.
- Identify new editorial board members who can contribute and are suitable.
- Send potential publications that are in line with the editorial board members' areas of expertise for evaluation.
- Integrate should with the editorial board regularly.
- Organize meetings with the editorial board at regular intervals to develop editorial policies and the journal.
Relationships with the Journal Owner and Publisher
The relationship between the editors and the publisher is based on the principle of editorial independence. According to the written contract between the editors and the publisher, all decisions taken by the editors are independent of the publisher and the journal owner.
Editorial and Blind Reviewing Processes
Editors are responsible for implementing the "Blind Reviewing and Evaluation Process" policies included in the journal publication policies. In this context, editors ensure that the evaluation process of each study is completed fairly, impartially, and on time.
Quality Assurance
Editors are responsible for the publication of each article published in the journal following the journal publication policies and international standards.
Protection of Personal Data
Editors are responsible for ensuring the protection of personal data regarding the subjects or images included in the evaluated studies. They are responsible for rejecting the study unless the explicit consent of the individuals used in the studies is documented. In addition, editors are responsible for protecting the individual data of the authors, reviewers, and readers.
Ethics Committee, Human and Animal Rights
Editors are responsible for ensuring the protection of human and animal rights in the evaluated studies. In cases where there is no ethical committee approval for the subjects used in the studies and no permission for experimental research, the researcher is responsible for rejecting the study.
Precautions Against Possible Misconduct and Abuse Of Duty
Editors are obliged to take precautions against possible misconduct and abuse of duty. In addition to conducting a meticulous and objective investigation into the determination and evaluation of complaints regarding this situation, sharing the findings on the subject is among the responsibilities of the editor.
Ensuring the Integrity of Academic Publications
Editors must ensure that any errors, inconsistencies, or misleading judgments in the studies are promptly corrected.
Protection of Intellectual Property Rights
Editors are obliged to protect the intellectual property rights of all published articles and to defend the rights of the journal and the author(s) in the event of possible violations. In addition, editors are obliged to take the necessary precautions to ensure that the content in all published articles does not violate the intellectual property rights of other publications.
Constructiveness and Openness to Discussion
The journal should take into consideration convincing criticisms of the works published and should display a constructive attitude towards these criticisms.
Editors should give the author(s) of the criticized studies the right to reply.
Editors should not ignore or exclude studies with negative results.
Complaints
Editors are obliged to carefully examine complaints from authors, reviewers, or readers and respond in an enlightening and explanatory manner.
Political and Commercial Concerns
The journal owner, publisher, and no other political and commercial elements affect the independent decision-making of the editors.
Conflicts of Interest
Editors; take into consideration the conflicts of interest between the author(s), reviewers, and other editors and ensure that the publication process of the works is completed independently and impartially.
Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
The evaluation of all studies with "Blind reviewing" directly affects the quality of the publication. This process provides trust with the objective and independent evaluation of the publication. The İSUBÜZFD evaluation process is carried out with the principle of double-blind reviewing. Reviewers cannot directly contact the authors, and evaluations and comments are communicated through the journal management system. During reviewing process, reviewer comments on evaluation forms and full texts are communicated to the author(s) through the editor. In this context, reviewers who evaluate studies for our journal are expected to have the following ethical responsibilities:
- They should only accept the evaluation of studies related to their field of expertise.
- They should evaluate impartially and confidentially.
- If they think they are faced with a conflict of interest during the evaluation process, they should refuse to review the study and inform the journal editor.
- Following the principle of confidentiality, they should destroy the studies they have reviewed after the evaluation process. They can only use the final versions of the studies they have reviewed after they are published.
- They should make the evaluation objectively and only regarding the content of the study. They should not allow nationality, gender, religious beliefs, political beliefs, and commercial concerns to affect the evaluation.
- The evaluation should be done constructively and politely. They should not make derogatory personal comments that include hostility, slander, and insult. They should perform the work they accept to be evaluated on time and follow the above ethical responsibilities.
Publisher's Ethical Responsibilities
The Journal Board of Directors acts with the awareness of the following ethical responsibilities:
- Editors are responsible for all processes of the studies submitted to the journal. Within this framework, editors are the decision-makers regardless of economic or political gains.
- Publisher undertakes to create independent editorial decisions.
- The publisher protects the property and copyright of every article published in the Journal of Agriculture Faculty (JAF) of the Isparta University of Applied Sciences and assumes the obligation to keep a record of every published copy.
- The publisher has the responsibility to take measures regarding all kinds of scientific misconduct, citation ganging, and plagiarism related to editors.

Article Processing Charge (APC) and Fee Policy
No publication fee is charged to the author or institution under any conditions.
No APC is charged for articles sent to the Journal of Agriculture Faculty (JAF) of the Isparta University of Applied Sciences and accepted articles are published as open access.
Advertisement and Sponsorship
Journal of Agriculture Faculty (JAF) of the Isparta University of Applied Sciences does not accept any advertisements or sponsorships and does not include them on its publication page.
Plagiarism Policy
Articles sent to the Journal of Agriculture Faculty (JAF) of the Isparta University of Applied Sciences are checked for plagiarism, excluding sources, with the “Turnitin” software, which is available for personal use by the authors. In the checks, the similarity rate must be 20% or less.
