Veteriner Hekimler Derneği Dergisi (Journal of the Turkish Veterinary Medical Society) is an international peer-reviewed open-access journal dedicated to publish evidence- based, scientific research articles from various disciplines of the veterinary medical sciences that will contribute to the international literature. The Journal covers scientific and technological aspects of major veterinary medical sciences such as veterinary biomedical sciences, veterinary patho-biology and preventive medicine, veterinary humanities and social sciences, and veterinary complementary and alternative medicine.
Veteriner Hekimler Derneği Dergisi (Journal of the Turkish Veterinary Medical Society) has been the official and scientific publication of the Turkish Veterinary Society (Veteriner Hekimler Derneği) since 1930. It is published two times a year on January and June. The journal publishes original clinical and experimental articles, case reports, board-invited papers, technical notes covering all fields of the Veterinary Medicine in Turkish and English. Veteriner Hekimler Derneği Dergisi (Journal of the Turkish Veterinary Medical Society) welcomes article submissions and does not charge a publication fee. The journal provides open access to all scientific publications which can be accessed immediately after the publication of the journal without any request for an institutional fee.
Instructions to Authors
1. Veteriner Hekimler Derneği Dergisi (Journal of the Turkish Veterinary Medical Society) is published biannually (January, June) and its abbreviation is “Vet Hekim Der Derg”.
2. The language of the journal is Turkish or English.
3. The Editorial Board makes a decision on whether to publish the paper, taking into account peer reviews, scientific significance, and manuscript quality.
4. Manuscripts should be prepared using "this template". The template includes all information about manuscript layout including "use of references, in-text citations, nomenclature and units, tables, figures etc." After preparing the manuscript according to the template; the author(s) are expected to upload 5 documents via Dergipark submission system (1 Full text, 1 Additional manuscript file, 1 Ethical statement file, 1 Copyright Release form, 1 Authors' Contribution file):
(a) A word document file including author names, tables, figures, and references (file name: nameofthearticle-withauthor.docx) (should be uploaded as Supporting file)5. All manuscripts must be submitted with a copyright release form filled and signed by all authors. This form is provided inside the manuscript submission system. Manuscripts including figures and tables should not exceed 15 pages for original research articles, 10 pages for review articles, 5 pages for case reports and 3 pages for short communications.
6. Manuscript title should be short and clear; the first letter should be in capital letters and the rest in small letters (e.g. “Uterine pathologies in cats and dogs”). If needed, the explanation regarding the study should be indicated as footnotes.
7. Name and surnames of the authors should be written under the article title; their addresses and titles must be placed in the first page as a footnote.
8. Abstract should be short, plain and include the most important parts of the manuscript. The English abstract must be at least 200, at most 300 words. At least 3, at most 5 English keywords should be selected in accordance with MeSH and written alphabetically. Researchers whose native language is not Turkish do not have to write an abstract in Turkish.
9. The introduction should include the literature reviews related to the study and the aim/s should be indicated in the last paragraph. The introduction should not exceed 2 pages.
10. Material and methods should be written in a clear and understandable manner without any unnecessary details.
11. In results, the data should be shortly explained. Repetition of data given in tables should be avoided.
12. Titles must be centered and written boldly with the first letter of each word capitalized. Second-degree subtitles must be left-justified with only the first letter capitalized. Third-degree subtitles must be at the beginning of the paragraph and written Italic with only the first letter capitalized.
13. Table and figure titles must be written both in Turkish and in English. Vertical lines should not be used in the tables. If horizontal is needed, they may only be used under the first and last lines of the table.
14. Authors must place the extension of abbreviations in the first use in the text. Genus and species names in Latin must be written in Italic. All measurements must be indicated according to Systeme Internationale (SI) units.
15. In discussion and conclusion, the data should be interpreted with other study results indicated in the reference list.

Example of Reference used in the text: Each piece of work that is cited in your text should have a unique number, assigned in the order of citation. If, in your text, you cite a piece of work more than once, the same citation number should be used. You can write the number in brackets. If you want to cite several pieces of work in the same sentence, you will need to include the citation number for each piece of work. 18. Address of correspondence should be given at the end of the research. In researches with more than one author, only the corresponding author’s name should be given as correspondence address.
19. In researches based on animal experiences which are to be published in the Journal of Turkish Veterinary Medical Society should include an approval statement from the Ethical Committee. A copy of Ethical Committee’s approval statement might be requested for accepted manuscripts at review stage.
20. The tradenames of products which are subjects of study should not be used.
21. Authors are fully responsible for the article published in the journal.
22. The articles received are subjected to review according to their arrival dates and are published consistent with the decision of the Editorial Board. After the article is published, the rights of publication belong to the journal.
23. If any citation is made from the journal, the journal name must be shown.

The journal welcomes article submissions and does not charge any product processing fee (APC) and article submission fees (ASC). All the articles published in this journal are free to access immediately from the date of publication. There is no embargo period. The journal does not require users to register to read the content.
