Bio
Studied Political Sciences, Arts Management and Modern Turkish History at Bosphorus University, Istanbul Kültür University and Yıldız Technical University respectively. In 2012, defended her PhD dissertation on the politics of folk dance choreographies in Turkey in a historical continuum between the early Republican period and 1980's.
Involved in various dance contexts as a 'folk' dancer, choreographer, critic, translator and researcher since 1994. Mostly analyzes movement based performances in historical and socio-political contexts and shares her experiences through some lectures and applied workshops on performing arts, dance history, gender politics among others. Also works as dramaturg in artistic and research projects of Berlin based choreographer Tümay Kılınçel since 2019.
