Original and qualified review and research articles, book reviews, book reviews and case studies on topics within the scope of social sciences can be published in the journal.

Ethical Principles and Publication Policy
Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
Author(s) submitting manuscripts to Düzce University Journal of Social Sciences are expected to comply with the following ethical responsibilities:
The publication processes applied in Düzce University Journal of Social Sciences constitute the basis for the development and distribution of knowledge in an impartial and reputable manner. The processes implemented in this direction directly reflect on the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support the authors. Peer-reviewed studies are studies that embody and support the scientific method. At this point, it is important that all stakeholders of the process (authors, readers and researchers, publishers, referees and editors) comply with the standards for ethical principles. Within the scope of Düzce University Journal of Social Sciences publication ethics, all stakeholders are expected to carry the following ethical responsibilities.
The studies submitted by the author(s) are expected to be original. In case the author(s) benefit from other studies or use other studies, they are required to cite and/or quote them completely and accurately.
Individuals who did not contribute intellectually to the content of the study should not be listed as authors.
All manuscripts submitted for publication must disclose any conflicts of interest and relationships.
The author(s) may be requested to provide raw data on their manuscripts within the framework of the evaluation processes, in such a case, the author(s) should be ready to present the expected data and information to the editorial board and scientific committee.
The author(s) should have a document showing that they have the rights to use the data used, the necessary permissions related to the research/analyses, or that the consent of the subjects of the experiment has been obtained.
In the event that the author(s) becomes aware of an inaccuracy or error in the published, early view or under review manuscript, the author(s) has the obligation to notify the journal editor or publisher and to cooperate with the editor in correcting or withdrawing the manuscript.
Authors cannot have their work in the submission process of more than one journal at the same time. Each application can be started after the completion of the previous application. A study published in another journal cannot be submitted to Düzce University Journal of Social Sciences.
It cannot be proposed to change the author responsibilities (such as adding an author, changing the author order, removing an author) of a study whose evaluation process has started.
As of 2020, TR Index Journal Evaluation criteria have been updated and especially the articles related to the ethics committee permission required in scientific research have been detailed.
The “Documents and information requested for studies requiring ethics committee approval” is not expected to be applied to studies that have been submitted in previous years, the evaluation process has been completed but not yet published, and although the evaluation process continues, the research data used before 2020. It will be mandatory for articles whose process started in 2020 and whose research data belong to 2020. For which articles Ethics Committee Permission Certificate is required is explained below, and articles that are not uploaded to the system and/or do not provide information about Ethics Committee Permission in the article will not be evaluated.
Explanation and Information on Ethical Rules by TR Index
The articles related to the Code of Ethics in the criteria in previous years were elaborated with explanations in 2020, and the issue of “including information about the permission in the article” was added to the criteria, assuming that permissions were obtained for studies requiring ethics committee permission in the field of research.
QUESTION: Is ethics committee approval required for all articles?
No, no. It is also stated in the criteria as articles that “require Ethics Committee Permission”.
Research requiring Ethics Committee permission is as follows:
- All kinds of research conducted with qualitative or quantitative approaches that require data collection from participants using survey, interview, focus group study, observation, experiment, interview techniques
- Use of humans and animals (including materials/data) for experimental or other scientific purposes,
- Clinical trials in humans,
- Research on animals,
- Retrospective studies in accordance with the law on the protection of personal data,
Also;
- Stating that the “informed consent form” has been obtained in case presentations,
- Obtaining and indicating permission from the owners for the use of scales, questionnaires, photographs belonging to others,
- Indication of compliance with copyright regulations for the intellectual and artistic works used
QUESTION: Should retrospective Ethics Committee Permission be obtained for publications produced from studies and theses completed in previous years?
Before 2020, retrospective ethics committee permission is not required for articles that used research data, produced from master's / doctoral studies (must be specified in the article), applied for publication to the journal in the previous year, accepted but not yet published.

1996 yılında Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Bilgisayar Programcılığı bölümünden mezun oldu. 2000-2009 yılları arasında İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi’nde Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemi uzmanı olarak görev yapmıştır. 2010 yılında Bahçeşehir Üniversitesi Kentsel Sistemler ve Ulaştırma Yönetimi yüksek lisans programını yüksek onur derecesiyle ve 2017 yılında Marmara Üniversitesi Yerel Yönetimler Anabilim Dalı Mahalli İdareler ve Yerinden Yönetim Bilim Dalı’nda doktora programını yüksek onur derecesiyle mezun olmuştur. 2014- 2015 yıllarında Siyaset, Ekonomi Toplum Araştırmaları Vakfı’nda (SETA) araştırmacı olarak ve 2016-2017 yıllarında Yeşilay Genel Merkezi Bilimsel Araştırmalar Birim Yöneticisi olarak görev yapmıştır.
2018 yılında Düzce Üniversitesi Akçakoca Bey Siyasal Bilgiler Fakültesi Siyaset Bilimi ve Kamu Yönetimi bölümünde öğretim üyesi olarak göreve başlamıştır. Kamu Politikası Anabilim Dalı başkanıdır. 15.11.2021- 02.02.2022 tarihlerinde Amerika Birleşik Devletleri Southern Tarım ve Teknik Üniversitesi’nde “Akıllı Şehirlerde IoT Teknolojileri: Gizlilik ve Güvenlik Esasları” konusunda araştırma yapmıştır. 11.08.2022 tarihinde Yerel Yönetimler, Kent ve Çevre Politikaları Bilim alanında Doçent ünvanı almaya hak kazanmıştır.
Çalışma alanları arasında Yerel Yönetimler, Kent ve Çevre Politikaları, Kamu Politikaları, Metropoliten Yönetim, Kentsel Sistemler, Akıllı Şehirler, Kent Mülteciliği ve Göç Politikaları bulunmaktadır.

2003 yılında Marmara Üniversitesi İlahiyat Fakültesi, 2005 yılında Ankara Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü master programı ve 2012 yılında Marmara Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü'nde doktora programından mezun oldu. 2018 yılında Üniversitelerarası Kurul Başkanlığı tarafından verilen "Felsefe Doçenti" unvanını kazandı. Fenerbahçe Lisesi, Artvin Çoruh Üniversitesi Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi ve İzmir Katip Çelebi Üniversitesi Sosyal ve Beşeri Bilimler Fakültesi'nde görev yaptı. 2020-2024 yılları arasında Mersin Üniversitesi İlahiyat Fakültesi'nde ve Mersin Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi'nde görev yaptıktan sonra 2024 yılında atandığı Düzce Üniversitesi Fen Edebiyat Fakültesi Felsefe Bölümü'nde çalışmaktadır. İslam felsefesi, bilim tarihyazımı, sosyoloji, oryantalizm eleştirileri, post-kolonyalizm, toplum ve siyaset felsefesi, çağdaş felsefeler ve ekonomi metafiziğiyle yakından ilgilenmektedir. Ayrıca yapay zekâ felsefesi, transhümanizm, posthümanizm ve metaverse üzerine araştırmalar yapmaktadır. Arapça ve İngilizce bilmektedir. Avrupa'da bazı ülkelerde bulunmuş ve Lizbon Üniversitesi Felsefe Bölümünde ders vermiştir.

Michael Hall is currently a Professor in the Department of Management, Marketing and Tourism, University of Canterbury, New Zealand. He also holds visiting professor positions at Oulu University in Finland, Linnaeus University in Sweden, the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, and Taylor's University in Malaysia. Coeditor of Current Issues in Tourism and Field Editor of Frontiers in Sustainable Tourism his research encompassed tourism, regional development, global environmental change, sustainability and resilience.
He graduated from Gazi University Kastamonu Faculty of Education, Department of Social Sciences Education (History minor field) in 1997.
He graduated from Gazi University in 2000 with a master's degree in History Education. His thesis was on the educational functions of historical stories. In 2006, he gave his doctoral dissertation "The Development of the Concept of Historical Time in Students" at the same university. He became an associate professor of history education in 2010 and a professor in 2016. He worked at Gazi, Ahi Evran, Marmara, Sakarya and Istanbul universities. The author continues to produce publications in history education, mainly in the field of historiography and methodology for the last 12 years. He is the Chief Editor of TUHED (Turkish History Educational Journal) and historiography journals. He is the co-chairman of the Historiography Workshops, which are held each year with a theme hosted by a university, and is a member of the active organizing committee of ISHE (International History Education Symposium), which is also hosted by a university every year.
He is a board member of Education Faculties Programs Accreditation Association (EPDAD) between 2016-2019. Since 2017, he has been working as a team leader, evaluator and monitor in YÖKAK monitoring-evaluation and accreditation processes. Şimşek served as Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Senator between 2021-2023. In addition, he still serves as a member of the Social Sciences Ethics Committee and a member of the Academic Incentive High Commission.

Dr. Vasileios Paliktzoglou, an academic and industry professional, holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Eastern Finland. He is an active contributor to academia, serving as a guest and associate editor for prestigious journals like the Journal of Information Systems Education (JISE) and IAFOR Journal of Education. He has been a keynote speaker at several academic and industry events, sharing his insights on social computing, collaborative learning, and emerging technologies in higher education. Dr. Paliktzoglou also actively participates in international research projects, highlighting his commitment to advancing knowledge and innovation as the Book Series Editor for the “Emerging Technologies in Education” at Vernon Press and “AI and Education” at STAR Scholars Press. His expertise continues to shape the academic and research landscape at Bahrain Polytechnic.
2001 yılında Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Rehberlik ve Psikolojik Danışmanlık Anabilim Dalı’ndan lisans derecesiyle mezun olmuş. 2001-2003 yılları arasında Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü Psikolojik Danışma ve Rehberlik Programı’nda yüksek lisans eğitimini tamamlamıştır. 2003-2007 yılları arasında Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi Eğitim Bilimler Enstitüsü Rehberlik ve Psikolojik Danışmanlık Anabilim Dalı’nda doktora derecesini almıştır. 2012 yılında Üniversitelerarası Kuruldan doçent ünvanını almıştır. 2020-2021 yılları arasında Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi Lisansüstü Eğitim Enstitüsü Kamu Yönetimi Anabilim Dalı’nda da Siyaset Bilimi ve Kamu Yönetimi Programında tezsiz yüksek lisans yapmıştır. 2020 yılında profesör kadrosuna atanmış olup halen Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi Sosyal Hizmet Bölümü’nde Prof. Dr. olarak çalışmalarına devam etmektedir.
Klemens Katterbauer, EUCLID Üniversitesi'nde Küresel Yönetim ve Yer Bilimleri alanında hukuk, yönetim ve çevresel yönler için en son 4IR teknolojilerine odaklanan bir doçenttir. Klemens, KAUST'tan bir doktora, Middlesex Üniversitesi'nden bir DBA ve dijital vergilendirme için AI'ya odaklanan Uluslararası Hukuk alanında bir doktora derecesine sahiptir ve yüksek etkili yayınlar konusunda kanıtlanmış bir geçmişe sahiptir. Dijital hizmetlerdeki vergiler ve BT ve siber güvenlik ortamında yasal uygulama ve düzenleme geliştirmeye yardımcı olmak için birkaç yeni AI çerçevesi geliştirmiştir.
José Duarte da Rocha Santos received his PhD in Management from Vigo University. He also holds an MSc in Marketing and a bachelor’s degree in Business Sciences.
Between 1987 and 2002, he played various roles in sales, marketing, and management of companies in the information technology sector. From 2003 to 2018, he was a management and marketing consultant.
Since 1999, he has been a professor in higher education in Portugal in the fields of management and marketing. He is currently a marketing professor at the Accounting and Business School of the Polytechnic of Porto (ISCAP/P.PORTO).
He is also a senior researcher at the CEOS.PP - Centre for Organizational and Social Studies of the Polytechnic of Porto, Portugal. His main areas of research are relational marketing and digital strategies of customer relationship.

Prof. Dr. Nedim SÖZBİR, Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi’nden Makine Mühendisi ve Makine Yüksek Mühendisi olarak mezun oldu. Türkiye Gemi Sanayi A.Ş. Pendik-Sulzer Motor Fabrikası'nda Makine Mühendisi olarak çalıştı. Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi Kocaeli Mühendislik Fakültesi Makine Mühendisliği Bölümü’nde Araştırma Görevlisi olarak çalıştı. Miami Üniversitesi Makine Mühendisliği Bölümü’nde Misafir Araştırmacı olarak doktora tez çalışmasını tamamladı. İstanbul Üniversitesi’nden Dr. Mühendis unvanını aldı. Carnegie Mellon Üniversitesi’nde doktora sonrası araştırmacı olarak çalıştı. Thales Alenia Space Fransa’da Türksat 3A Haberleşme Uydusu Projesi Teknoloji Transferi programında yer alarak, Uydu Isıl Mühendisi olarak çalışmalarda bulundu. TÜBİTAK Uzay’da Başuzman Araştırmacı, TÜBİTAK MAM’da Yönetim Kurulu Üyesi, BMC Power Motor ve Kontrol Teknolojileri A.Ş’de Güç Sistemleri Geliştirilmesi Projesinde Araştırmacı, Göktürk 1 Uydusu kapsamında Uzay Sistemleri Merkezi (USET) kurulumunda Danışman ve TÜBİTAK MAM’da Başkan Danışmanı olarak görev yaptı. Sakarya Üniversitesi Makine Mühendisliği Bölümü Öğretim Üyeliği ve Sakarya Üniversitesi Teknik Eğitim Fakültesi Dekan Vekilliği görevlerinde bulundu. 2006 yılından itibaren Türksat A.Ş.’de Yerli Haberleşme Uydusu Geliştirilmesi Projesinde Danışman olarak çalışmaktadır. 04.08.2022 tarihinde Düzce Üniversitesi Rektörü olarak atandı.
Prof. Dr. Nedim SÖZBİR’in araştırma konuları; uydu ve uzay teknolojileri, uydularda ısıl kontrol, enerji teknolojileri, ısı transferi, ısıl tasarım, elektronik soğutma enerji ekonomisi ve atıkların geri kazanımı konuları yer almaktadır. Yerli Gemi Motorları, Yeni Nesil Zırhlı Araç için 1000 BG ve Altay Tankı için 1500 BG Güç Grubu Geliştirilmesi, Yerli Haberleşme Uydusu ve Uydu Alt Sistemleri gibi ulusal ve uluslararası projelerde Danışman ve Araştırmacı olarak çalıştı. 2006-2013 yılları arasında Haberleşme ve Gözlem Uydusu Tasarımı, Montaj, Entegrasyon ve Testleri konularında Thales Alanie Space ve Space University, Fransa’da eğitimler aldı.
Prof. Dr. Nedim SÖZBİR’in, ulusal ve uluslararası makale ve bildirisi, Haberleşme Uydusu Platformu Ulusal Patenti, Alüminyum Esaslı Flakslar-Çelik Endüstrisi için TS 13644 Standardı Çalışması, Teknofest Model Uydu Yarışması öğrencileri için “Uydu Haberleşmesi 101” kitapçığı ve Editörlük yaptığı Isı Bilimi ve Tekniği Kongresi kitapları mevcuttur.
