Aim & Scope
The journal aims to publish the studies, such as current original clinical and experimental articles, compilations, case reports, letters to the editor, in the field of health sciences - mainly in the faculties of dentistry, pharmacy, basic medical sciences and the departments of physiotherapy and rehabilitation, nutrition and dietetics, and midwifery and nursing – as well as the studies in multidisciplinary fields.
The Journal of Erciyes University Health Sciences Institute includes the studies such as original clinical and experimental articles, compilations, case reports, letters to the editor, in the field of health sciences - mainly in the faculties of dentistry, pharmacy, basic medical sciences and the departments of physiotherapy and rehabilitation, nutrition and dietetics, and midwifery and nursing.
Writing Rules
GENERAL INFORMATION
Erciyes University Institute of Health Sciences periodical "Journal of Health Sciences" is published quarterly, three times a year (April, August and December). Clinical and experimental research articles, case reports and literature reviews in various branches of the health field are accepted for evaluation, provided that they have not been published anywhere before and have not been sent to another journal for publication. Authors are responsible for the compliance of the articles with scientific and ethical rules (http://www.icmje.org/abouticmje/faqs/conflict-of-interest-disclosure-forms/).
EVALUATION IN TERMS OF SPELLING
The publication language of the journal is Turkish and English. Turkish studies should be based on the Turkish dictionary of the Turkish Language Association or the online dictionary available at "https://sozluk.gov.tr/". If available, the dictionaries of the relevant branch associations can also be used. English studies and English abstracts should be evaluated by an English language expert and/or a native speaker before submission to the journal. If the person who evaluated the study in English is not one of the authors, the name of this person should be indicated in the "Acknowledgement" section at the end of the article. The manuscripts submitted to our journal for publication and accepted for publication as a result of the evaluation is checked by the experts in the editorial board in terms of Turkish/English language. Language errors are expected to be corrected by the authors and, if deemed necessary, may be corrected separately by the editorial board without affecting the scientific content of the study. Authors are deemed to have accepted these corrections.
ARTICLE EVALUATION PROCESS
The manuscripts that are considered to be publishable among the studies submitted to the Journal of Health Sciences are subjected to a double-blind review process. Each study submitted to the journal for publication is subjected to a preliminary review for compliance with the spelling rules. A field editor is determined in accordance with the subject of the manuscript and the manuscript is directed to this editor.
The relevant field editor started the scientific evaluation process of the study by appointing a total of three referees, two field referees (not included in the editorial board), and one statistical referee. Referee selection is made according to the subject of the study.
The identities of the authors, the institutions where they work, and the institution(s) where the study was conducted are kept confidential from the reviewers. The referees convey their scientific opinions to the field editors with the "article evaluation form" that they will fill out on issues such as the scientific value of the study, methodology, the appropriateness of statistical evaluations, the adequacy of the discussion of the data and whether the conclusions reached are compatible with the data. The relevant field editor presents his/her opinion to the Journal Editorial Board with a general evaluation including the referee evaluation forms.
Referee comments, evaluations, criticisms, and suggestions are sent electronically to the corresponding author. As in the process of sending the manuscript to the referee, the identity of the referees is not communicated to the author and is kept confidential. The manuscripts that are sent back to the authors for the corrections requested by the referees are expected to be resubmitted for re-evaluation by making the necessary corrections within the period previously announced by the Journal. All manuscripts are in the English language checked and any errors are sent back to the author for correction.
Authors are responsible for the follow-up of the manuscripts sent to the author for the requested corrections. In line with the referee's recommendations, the author must upload the article to the system within the period determined by the journal. If the article is not uploaded, the author will be given additional time. Manuscripts that are not uploaded to the system at the end of the second additional period will be rejected.
PUBLISHING PLATFORM
Journal of Health Sciences is published electronically through Tübitak-Dergipark online scientific journal publishing platform. The web address of the journal is https://dergipark.org.tr/tr/pub/eujhs. Study submission to the journal and process follow-up is carried out through the Dergipark system. In order to submit a study, all authors must first be a member of the Dergipark platform. The writing rules of the journal can be accessed electronically at https://dergipark.org.tr/tr/pub/eujhs/writing-rules.

SPELLING RULES
Studies that do not comply with the spelling rules will not be evaluated. Submitted manuscripts must be organized according to the journal rules. The most important reason for the delay in the publication of the articles is that the articles are not prepared according to the spelling rules. The editorial board is authorized not to publish articles that do not comply with the spelling rules, to return them to the author for correction, or to rearrange them in terms of form. The responsibility for the ideas defended in the articles belongs to the author. The copyright of the published articles belongs to the journal and cannot be partially transferred without the permission of the journal.
Manuscripts submitted to the journal should be written on A4 paper size in Times New Roman font, 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing, and 2.5 cm margins. The text length (excluding figures, tables, and references) should not exceed 11 pages for research articles and reviews and 5 pages (excluding figures, tables, and references) for case reports.
Tables, figures, and captions should be written in 10-point font and single-spaced. The abbreviations used should be written clearly in parentheses in the first place they appear in the text, and special abbreviations should not be used. Numerical data between 1-10 in the text should be indicated in writing, 10 and above should be indicated with numbers. However, numbers at the beginning of sentences should be written in writing. Figures and illustrations should be numbered according to their order of occurrence in the text. In addition, the number of references for articles, reviews and case reports should not exceed 45. Submitted manuscripts should be uploaded to the DergiPark system together with the Ethics Committee Certificate, iThenticate report, Title Page, Full Text, and Copyright Transfer Form signed by all authors.
TITLE PAGE
The title page should be prepared as a separate file and uploaded to the system. It should include the full Turkish and English title of the article (title length should be 10-12 words and abbreviations should not be used in the title) and the abbreviated Turkish and English short title (60 characters without spaces and with the first letters capitalized and the others lowercase). In addition, the name and surname of the authors, their positions (academic titles), institution and e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, ORCID numbers, and the name of the institution supporting the study, if any, should be indicated. If the article has been presented in any congress, the place and date should be indicated. FULL TEXT TYPES
RESEARCH ARTICLES should consist of Abstract, Keywords, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Conflict of Interest, Acknowledgments (if any), and References. Research articles should not exceed 11 pages and 5000 words (excluding figures, tables, and references) in accordance with the spelling rules.
Review articles should consist of Abstract, Keywords, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Main and Subsections, Conclusion and References sections. Review articles should not exceed 11 pages and 5000 words (excluding figures, tables, references) in accordance with the spelling rules. Review articles of researchers who have published at least two articles on the subject are accepted for evaluation. The author should indicate the published articles on the subject in the form of a note to the editor.
SYSTEMATIC REVIEW; The title of the study should indicate that the article is a systematic review. The rationale/purpose of the systematic review should be explained in line with the literature and the objective/research question of the study should be stated using the PICOS (participants, interventions, comparisons, outcomes, and study design) framework.
In the method section of the systematic review, it should be stated that it is a systematic review, the eligibility criteria of the studies to be included, the problem of the studies, interventions, and comparisons should be explained. In the findings section, the characteristics of the data extracted for each study (sample size, PICOS, follow-up period) should be specified. All findings for each study included in the systematic review should be stated. It should not exceed 11 pages and 5000 words excluding figures, tables, and references.
CASE REPORTS should consist of Abstract, Keywords, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Case(s) Presentation, Discussion, and References sections. It should not exceed 5 pages and 2500 words excluding figures, tables, photographs/schematics (permission must be obtained), and references. The aim/focus of the study and "case report" should be included in the title. In case of presentations, it is mandatory to obtain informed
written consent from the patient/individual.
Summary
It should be prepared separately in Turkish and English, should be unstructured and should not exceed 250 words. The abstract should be reflective of the article, important results should be given and their interpretation should be made. Abbreviations should not be used in the abstract and references should not be cited. The abstract page should not include author names and addresses.
Keywords
Immediately after the abstract, at least three and at most five keywords related to the article should be given in the same language. They should be written in alphabetical order in lower case and separated by commas. English keywords should be written in accordance with the Turkish keyword order. Turkish keywords should be selected from Turkish Scientific Terms (TBT) and English keywords should be selected from Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) (see: http://www.bilimterimleri.com, http://www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/MBrowser.html).
Tables
Tables should be numbered with Roman numerals in the order of their occurrence in the article (e.g. Table I), each should be given a separate title, and the titles should be written above the tables. Tables should be given where they should be in the text. Make sure that each table is cited in the text. Tables should be written in Times New Roman, 10 font size, and single spacing. No other vertical and horizontal lines should be used in the table, except for the title line and the bottom and top lines of the table. Each column should be given a title. Authors should make explanations in the footnotes, not in the title. All non-standard abbreviations should be explained in the footnotes. The following symbols should be used for footnotes respectively: (e.g. *, **). If a previously published table is to be used, permission must be obtained from the individual holding the publication rights. This permission is required regardless of authorship and publisher, except for documents in the field of society. The number of tables/figures/graphics should not exceed 6 in total and each table/figure/graphic should not exceed one page.
Shapes and Pictures
They should be numbered in Roman numerals in the order of their occurrence in the article and each should be given a separate title; titles should be written under the figures or illustrations. For microscopic images, the magnification ratio and the staining technique used should be indicated. The position of figures and illustrations in the text should be indicated.
Figures should either be professionally drawn and photographed or submitted digitally in photo quality. In addition to the versions of the figures suitable for printing, electronic files should be sent in electronic versions such as JPEG, GIF, TIFF in formats that will create high-resolution images, and authors should check the image quality of these files on the computer screen before submission.
X-rays, CT, MRI films, and other diagnostic imaging images should be submitted as high-quality prints. Therefore, letters, numbers, and symbols on figures should be clear and of a size that is uniform throughout the manuscript and can be read even when reduced for publication. Figures should be understandable on their own as much as possible. Photomicrographic pathology preparations should include internal scales. Symbols, arrows, or lettering should contrast with the background. If photographs of people are used, either they should not be recognizable from the photograph or written permission should be obtained.
If a previously published figure is to be used, permission must be obtained from the individual who holds the publishing rights. This permission is required regardless of authorship and publisher, except for documents in the field of society. The number of tables/figures/graphics should not exceed 6 in total and each table/figure/graphic should not exceed one page.
Measurement Units
Units of length, weight, and volume should be reported in the metric system (meters, kilograms, liters) and their multiples of ten. Temperatures should be in degrees Celsius (o C) and blood pressure in millimeters of mercury (mmHg). Units of measurement should use both local and International Systems of Units (SI). Drug concentrations are given in either SI or mass units, alternatively in parentheses.
For numbers with four or more digits, a space should be left between the thousand digits (Example: 1 000 000). Double-digit numbers should be given in numerals and single-digit numbers should be given in writing. However, in expressions indicating values, single digits should be given in numerals (Example: 1 cm). In the text and tables, percentage values should be given as two digits after the period (Example: 70.10%) and p values should be given as three digits after the period (Example: 0.001). Decimal numbers in articles, tables, and figures should be separated by a period.
Conflict of Interest
It is included at the end of the article before the references. Whether there is a conflict of interest, any financial support/project support details should be written.
Acknowledgment (If any)
At the end of the article, it is placed after the conflict of interest and before the references. This section includes expressions of gratitude for personal, technical, material assistance, and laboratory use. If research support (from University Scientific Research Projects, TUBITAK projects, and similar institutions) is received, the project number should be indicated

Journal of Health Sciences accepts AMA standards as a form of citation. Detailed information about AMA standards can be found at https://www.bcit.ca/files/library/pdf/bcit- ama_citation_guide.pdf.
The number of references for studies (articles, reviews, and case reports) should not exceed 45. References should be prepared to cover the last 10 years of literature. In the studies to be submitted to the journal, the references should be written in the order in which they appear in the article and should be indicated exponentially immediately after the punctuation marks at the end of the sentence in the text. If the number of authors contributing to the study is 6 or more, the first 6 names should be written, and "et al." should be added in Turkish references and "et al" in English articles. Authors are responsible for the currency and validity of the references. Congress proceedings and theses may be cited only if absolutely necessary. Personal experiences and unpublished publications can only be used in the discussion section and cannot be cited as references. Internet addresses alone cannot be cited as a source (such as https://dergipark.org.tr/tr/pub/aeahtd). Articles published in electronic media can be cited by indicating the web address of the relevant article and the date of citation. The same rules apply to reference books in electronic media.

• The 'Ethics Committee Document' must include the names of the authors participating in the study. It is not sufficient to upload only the first page of the consent form. If there is a difference between the Ethics Committee Document and the names of the authors in the study, this difference should be explained in a letter addressed to the editor and the documents confirming the explanation should also be uploaded.
• In the "Materials and methods" section of studies with human components, compliance with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki, ethics committee approval from their own institutions and "informed consent" from patients should be stated. If animal components were used, compliance with the principles of "Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals" should be stated in the "Materials and Methods" section.

Ethical Principles and Publication Policy
ETHICAL PRINCIPLES AND PUBLICATION POLICY
The publication processes of the Journal of Health Sciences are carried out on the basis of unbiased evaluation, development, and sharing of qualified scientific articles such as clinical and experimental research articles, original case reports, and literature reviews in various branches of the health field. In this context, the ethical rules that authors, journal editors, referees, and publishers must comply with are carried out in accordance with the guidelines and policies published by the "Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE (https://publicationethics.org/))".
Studies submitted to the Journal of Health Sciences must comply with ethical and scientific standards. The scientific, ethical, and legal responsibilities of the published articles belong to the author(s) and do not reflect the views of the editor, editorial board, and editorial board members.
The journal requires that the articles published in the journal meet high ethical and scientific standards. No commercial product advertisements are included in the articles. No responsibility for the properties and descriptions of the commercial products mentioned in the articles is accepted by the Journal of Health Sciences.
Articles submitted to the Journal of Health Sciences must not have been previously published elsewhere or sent for publication. If there are quoted articles, tables, pictures, etc. in the study, the responsible author of the study must obtain written permission from the owner and authors of the publication rights and indicate this in the study. If the work submitted to the journal complies with the formal principles and the spelling rules of the language in which it is sent, it is reviewed by the editor/field editor and at least three referees and, if deemed necessary, it is published after the requested changes are made by the authors.
In order to publish all prospective and retrospective studies conducted with humans or animals and other studies that require ethics committee approval in accordance with the legislation in force, Ethics Committee Approval must be obtained and the institution, approval number, and date (day-month-year) of Ethics Committee Approval must be specified in the "Materials and Methods" section of the manuscript.
The journal accepts the principle of compliance with the Principles of the Declaration of Helsinki (https://www.wma.net/ policies-post/wma-declaration-of-helsinki-ethical-principles- for-medical-research-involving-human-subjects/) in all studies involving human subjects. In the presence of such studies, the authors must state in the "Materials and Methods" section of the study that they conducted the study in accordance with these principles, and that they obtained ethics committee approval and "informed consent" from the people who participated in the study.
If animal elements were used in the study, the authors must indicate in the "Materials and Methods" section of the study that they protected animal rights in their studies in accordance with the principles of "Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (https://www.nap.edu/catalog/5140/guide-for-the-care-and-use-of-laboratory-animals)" and that they obtained the approval of the ethics committee for animal experiments.
"Informed consent" should be obtained from patients in case presentations and this should be stated in the study. It is the responsibility of the authors to obtain consent within the framework of the Law on the Protection of Personal Data and to submit it if requested by the competent authorities.
If there is a direct or indirect commercial connection or financial support for the study, the authors are obliged to inform the editor on the presentation page that they have no commercial relationship with the commercial product, drug, company used or if they have a relationship, what kind of relationship (consultant, other agreements, etc.). The compliance of the studies with ethical rules is the responsibility of the authors.
ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PUBLISHER
Journal of Health Sciences is published by Erciyes University Institute of Health Sciences. Ethical responsibilities of the publisher;
- The publisher accepts that the decision-maker and the refereeing process in the process of publishing an article in the Journal of Health Sciences is the responsibility of the editor.
- The publisher provides open, electronic and free access to the journal on the journal's web page.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF EDITORS, ASSISTANT EDITORS AND AREA EDITORS
- The Editorial Board is responsible for the publication of the articles sent to the Journal of Health Sciences for publication and the subsequent processes. The Editor and Editorial Board should act impartially and with the public interest in mind when making decisions about the journal and the published articles.
- The Editorial Board of the Journal of Health Sciences should strive to continuously improve the journal and increase the quality of publication.
- The Editor and Editorial Board should ensure that the articles are evaluated by experts in their fields. The referee list should be constantly renewed and improved according to the referees' areas of expertise.
- Attention should be paid to whether there is a conflict of interest between the referees sent to evaluate the article and the authors.
- The Editor and Editorial Board should ensure that journal policies such as blind refereeing, evaluation process, ethical principles, and publication process are determined and implemented. Information about authors and reviewers should not be disclosed to either party.
- The Editor and Editorial Board should update the publication and writing rules, present them to the authors in an understandable way, and update the sample templates.
- When authors request information about the status of their manuscripts, information about the status of the manuscript should be provided without harming the blind review process.
- It should be checked that the submission and acceptance dates are published in the articles.
- The Editor and Editorial Board should pay attention to the protection of human and animal rights in the articles and reject the article in the absence of ethics committee approval.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF REFEREES
Journal of Health Sciences applies the principle of two-way blind reviewing in the article evaluation process. The reviewers cannot communicate directly with the authors, and the manuscript evaluation forms and correction requests are sent to the author(s) through the editor and/or editorial board via the Dergipark management system. Ethical responsibilities of reviewers:
- Reviewers should only accept manuscripts related to their area of expertise.
- Reviewers should evaluate the scientific aspects of the article without taking into account the race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship or political philosophy of the authors, and should attach importance to confidentiality while evaluating.
- Reviewers should refuse to evaluate the manuscript and inform the editor if there is a conflict of interest/conflict of interest with the authors.
- Referees should use academic and constructive language while evaluating the manuscripts and should avoid insulting personal comments.
- The referees should send their opinions on the articles they accept for evaluation to the editor and editorial board within the deadline given to them.
AUTHOR'S RESPONSIBILITIES
- The author(s) must not have published their manuscript(s) in another journal or submitted their manuscript(s) for publication in another journal at the same time.
- Only the names of the contributing authors should be included in the manuscript (i.e., those who have made significant contributions to the design, conduct, implementation, data collection or analysis/interpretation of the study; those who have contributed to the hypothesis and outline of the study and critically revised it for intellectual content; those who have seen, approved and accepted the final version of the manuscript for publication).
Articles submitted for publication should not be requested to change the order of authors or to add or remove authors.
- The author(s) should cite the sources used during the writing of the article in accordance with ethical principles.
- The author(s) should obtain the necessary ethics committee documents for research articles, and indicate the name of the ethics committee, date and number of the decision in the method section of the article. They should also document similarity reports using the iThenticate (http://www.ithenticate.com/) program. Ethics committee approval documents are not required for reviews.
- When requested, information and raw data about the articles under review should be forwarded to the editor and editorial board.
- The author(s) should inform the editor and editorial board when they realize the error about their article at the evaluation and early view stage or electronically, and contact them to correct or withdraw it.
COPYRIGHT (CREATIVE COMMONS)
The articles published in the Journal of Health Sciences are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-Share Alike License 4.0 (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) International License and permission is granted to share them in accordance with the license terms. All publishing rights of the works accepted for publication belong to the institution publishing the journal. PLAGIARISM AND UNETHICAL BEHAVIOR
All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Health Sciences should be scanned by the authors with a licensed application (iThenticate) and the similarity report should be uploaded to the system together with the manuscript files. Acceptable similarity rate is below 20%. Manuscripts with similarity above the specified rate are rejected without evaluation.
Some unethical behaviors are listed below:
- Identification of people who did not contribute intellectually to the study as authors.
- Failure to indicate if the article is derived from the author's master's/doctoral thesis or a project, or if it has been presented anywhere.
- Slicing, i.e. publishing more than one article from a single study.
- Failure to declare conflicts of interest regarding submitted manuscripts.
- Deciphering the process of double-blind arbitration.
