Türkiye’deki Yetişkinlerin Çocukluk Çağı Yaşantılarına ve Maddi Kaygılarına Göre Çalışma İradesinin ve Mutluluk Düzeylerinin İncelenmesi

Abstract

Araştırmada, yetişkin bireylerin çalışma iradesinin ve mutluluk düzeylerinin çocukluk çağı yaşantılarına ve maddi kaygılarına göre anlamlı bir düzeyde farklılık gösterip göstermediği incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, Türkiye’nin çeşitli illerinde yaşayan, yaşları 22 ile 65 arasında değişen 400 kişi oluşturmuştur. Araştırmada gerekli verileri elde etmek için “Çocukluk Yaşantıları Ölçeği”, “Maddi Kaygı Ölçeği”, “Çalışma İradesi Ölçeği”, “Oxford Mutluluk Ölçeği Kısa Formu” kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde, MANOVA-Wilks Lambda(λ) Testinden yararlanılmıştır. Ayrıca, betimsel analizler yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda, çocukluk döneminde olumsuz aile yaşantısı yüksek ya da düşük düzeyde olan yetişkin bireylerin çalışma iradesi düzeyleri arasında anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmamıştır. Ancak, çocukluk döneminde olumsuz okul yaşantıları ve olumsuz kişisel-sosyal yaşantıları yüksek düzeyde olan bireylerin çalışma iradesi düzeyleri düşük çıkmıştır. Çocukluk döneminde olumsuz aile yaşantıları, olumsuz okul yaşantıları ve olumsuz kişisel-sosyal yaşantıları yüksek düzeyde olan bireylerin mutluluk düzeyleri düşük çıkmıştır. Ayrıca, maddi kaygıları yüksek düzeyde olan bireylerin çalışma iradesi ve mutluluk düzeyleri düşük çıkmıştır. Araştırmanın bulguları ilgili alanyazın ışığında tartışılmış ve öneriler sunulmuştur.

An Examination of Work Volition and Happiness Among Adults Living in Türkiye in Relation to Childhood Experiences and Financial Anxiety

Abstract

This study examined whether adults’ levels of work volition and happiness differ according to their childhood experiences and financial anxiety. The sample consisted of 400 individuals aged 22 to 65 years residing in various cities across Türkiye. Data were collected using the Childhood Experiences Scale, the Financial Anxiety Scale, the Work Volition Scale, and the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire–Short Form. Multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) with Wilks’ Lambda (λ) and descriptive statistics were employed to analyze the data. The results indicated no significant difference in work volition between adults reporting high and low levels of negative family experiences during childhood. However, participants who reported higher levels of negative school experiences and negative personal–social experiences exhibited significantly lower levels of work volition. In addition, individuals with higher levels of negative family, school, and personal–social childhood experiences reported lower levels of happiness. The findings also showed that higher levels of financial anxiety were associated with lower levels of both work volition and happiness. These findings are discussed in relation to the existing literature, and implications for future research and practice are presented.
