Abstract

Bireysel farklılıklara bağlı olarak bazı insanlar sosyal durumları sıkıntısız ele alırken, bazıları bu konuda daha az başarı gösterebilmektedir. Sosyal-duygusal yetkinlik (Social-Emotional Expertise) kavramı, bu farklılıkları daha iyi anlamak adına McBrien, Wild ve Bachorowski (2018) tarafından geliştirilmiş bir yapıdır. Bu araştırmanın genel amacı; McBrien vd. (2018) tarafından geliştirilmiş olan Sosyal-Duygusal Yetkinlik Ölçeği’nin (Social-Emotional Expertise Scale) Türkçeye uyarlanması ve güvenilirlik-geçerlilik analizlerinin incelenmesidir. Dil eşdeğerliliği çalışması kapsamında ölçeğin Türkçe ve İngilizce formlarından alınan puanlar arasındaki ilişkiye bakılmış ve bu ilişki .883, p˂.01 olarak bulunmuştur. Ölçeğin Cronbach Alpha katsayısı .855 ve test-tekrar test güvenilirlik katsayısı .838’tür. Ölçüt-bağımlı geçerliliğin incelenmesi amacıyla yapılan çalışmada kullanılan Asıl Form Schutte Duygusal Zeka Testi ile Sosyal-Duygusal Yetkinlik Ölçeği arasındaki ilişki .615, p˂.01 olarak bulunmuştur. Ölçeğin kişinin kendisi ve bir yakın arkadaşı tarafından kişinin kendisinin değerlendirildiği formlar arasındaki ilişki ise .556, p˂.01 olarak belirlenmiştir . Doğrulayıcı faktör analizinden elde edilen uyum indeksi değerleri sonucunda Sosyal-Duygusal Yetkinlik Ölçeği’nin orijinal formunda sunulan iki faktörlü yapısının Türk kültüründe doğrulandığı sonucuna varılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen tüm bulgular, ölçeğin güvenilir ve geçerli bir ölçme aracı olduğunu destekler niteliktedir.

Adaptation of Social-Emotional Expertise Scale To Turkish: Study of Reliability and Validity

Abstract

Depending on their individual differences, some people cope with social situations without problems, while others are less successful. The concept of Social-Emotional Expertise is a structure introduced by McBrien, Wild, and Bachorowski (2018) in order to have a better understanding of these differences. The general purpose of this research is; adapting the Social-Emotional Expertise Scale to Turkish and performing reliability and validity analysis. The correlation coefficient between scores obtained from the two forms of the scale (Turkish and English) was .883, p˂.01. The Cronbach Alpha coefficient of the scale was .855 and the test-retest reliability coefficient was .838. To examine the criterion-related validity of the scale, the correlation coefficient between original form of Schutte Emotional Intelligence Test and the Social-Emotional Expertise was examined and the result was .615, p˂.01. The result of correlation coefficient between the self-assessment of the scale and the forms in which the individual was evaluated by a close friend was.556, p˂.01. As a result of the fit index values obtained from the confirmatory factor analysis, it was concluded that the two-factor structure of the Social-Emotional Expertise Scale as presented in its original form, was also confirmed in Turkish culture. All the findings obtained from the research support that the scale is a reliable and valid measurement tool.
