General Principles
• The Journal of International Civilization Studies is an international peer-reviewed journal published biannually in May and November.
• The Journal of International Civilization Studies has the right to make corrections, publish or retract the articles.
• Submission of an article to the Journal of International Civilization Studies is accepted as an application for publication. No copyright fee is charged for a paper.
• All legal responsibility for articles submitted and/or published in the Journal of International Civilization Studies belongs to the author.
• The authors submitted the papers to the Journal of International Civilization Studies should take responsibility provided in the Ethical Declaration of Publication.
• The authors must register to the DergiPark article tracking system before submitting the paper to the Journal of International Civilization Studies. For more information about registration, uploading, and other details, please go to the homepage of Dergipark.org.tr. (DergiPark Process Guide)
• The papers submitted to the Journal of International Civilization Studies must be original works that have not been previously published or submitted elsewhere. The author should provide
- "Copyright Transfer Agreement",
- a text similarity checker report (Turnitin, iThenticate, and other plagiarism prevention software) that shows the overall ‘similarity index’ (maximum of 20%) including the bibliography;
- should be attached to the "Statement of Ethical Responsibility" signed by the
parties during the article submission.

• The publication languages are Turkish, English, and Russian. In the articles written in Russian (Cyrillic), the author’s name and affiliations, the article title, abstract and bibliography must be written in Latin. It is especially important for article indexing and scanning. In the articles written in Russian the article Title, Abstract, Keywords, and References must be provided in English.
• The maximum length of the paper should be 25 pages (including abstracts and bibliography).
• Except for specific cases concerning articles or titles in terms of spelling and punctuation, the Turkish Language Association's Spelling Guide should be taken as a basis for articles in Turkish.
• During the first submission, the papers that do not meet the journal criteria will not be peer-reviewed. The applicant should make the necessary improvements within 15 days. Manuscripts that do not meet these guidelines will be removed from the system.
• The authors should check the submission system from time to time to get reviewers’ and editors’ feedback. After the review, the authors should revise and resubmit their final manuscripts with the reviewer’s comments.
• Comments/suggestions provided by the reviewers and editors are required to be revised and resubmitted to the system within 7 days. Articles that have not been revised within this period will be deleted from the system.
• The articles should indicate whether ethics committee permission and/or legal/private permission is required. If it is necessary to obtain these permissions, it should be clearly stated from which institution, on which date and with which decision or number number the permission was obtained.
• “Ethics Committee Permission” is required for research in which humans and animals (including material/data) are used for experimental or other scientific purposes.
• If the study requires the use of human or animal subjects, it must be declared that the study is carried out in accordance with international declarations, guidelines, etc.
• “Ethics Committee Permission” is required for clinical research on humans and on animals.
• “Ethics Committee Permission” is required for retrospective studies in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Law.
• For the use of scales, questionnaires and photographs belonging to others, permission must be obtained from the owners and this must be stated in the article.
• In case presentations, it should be stated that the “Informed Consent Form” has been obtained.
• It should be stated that copyright regulations are complied with for the intellectual and artistic works used.

• For researches that require ethics committee permission, the document indicating that ethics committee permission has been obtained must be submitted through the system.
• Data Access and Data Retention: Authors may be asked to provide relevant raw data that may be needed during the evaluation phase in connection with their studies. Therefore, authors/authors should be ready to provide access to these data and should retain these data for a reasonable period of time following the publication of their work.
WRITING RULES
Guidelines for Writing an Article
• Authors need to use appropriate paper Template in preparing the article.
• When first uploading the paper, the authors should not provide the author information in the paper file. It should be added as the Author Information in a separate Word document.
• If the article is accepted for publication, the author(s) should upload the article with the author information.
• Details such as page numbers, headers, and footers should not be included in the paper.
Article Page Layout
• It should be A4 size; the right-left-top margins are required to be 2.5 cm; the bottom is 1.5 cm.
• The article should be written in Cambria font. If the article is written in a specific font, it must be attached to a font file.
• Body of the text should be font size 11 pt, single spaced, and 6 pt before and after the paragraph spacing.
Titles
• The article title in the original language should be left aligned, bold and 16 pt, the title in the second language should be also left aligned, bold and 12 pt, the first letters should be provided in uppercase, and the remaining letters in lowercase.
• The article titles written as a review, conceptual analysis, or other types can be adjusted according to the content.
• Research papers should consist of the following major sections: Introduction, Methods, Findings, Results/Discussion/Recommendation. These titles should be centered, bold, and 12 pt, the first letters of each word capitalized, and no other formatting.
• Subheadings should be written in left aligned, bold, 11 pt, with the first letters capitalized.
• Subheadings of headings should be written as indenting the beginning of the paragraph, left aligned, bold, italic, 11 pt with the first letters capitalized.
• Headings should not be numbered.
Author Information
• Author information should be left aligned, normal, and 14 pt as shown in the example (Uğur ÜNAL).
NOTE: Author information should not be included in the Word document while submitting the article. Author information should be submitted as a separate file in a Word format (as the “Author information”).
Abstract
• The abstract should include the purpose, methods, findings, and results of the research and consist of 150 words minimum to 200 words maximum, font size 10 pt, and single spaced.
Keywords
• Keywords should be 3 words minimum to 5 words maximum and reflect the content of the article.
Extended Abstract
• Each paper should have an EXTENDED ABSTRACT of 750-1000 words after the Reference section. If the article is in Turkish and Russian, the abstract should be in English, and if the article is in English, the abstract should be in Turkish.
• An extended abstract should not contain headings (introduction, etc.) and should be arranged into a single column.
• An extended abstract should follow the following format standards: font size 11, single spaced, and 6 pt of space before and after the paragraphs.
Tables and Figures
• Tables and figures should be prepared in a publication-ready format and appear in the place mentioned in the texts.
• The standard tables should be 16 cm wide.
• The texts in tables should be 9 pt font size and single spaced.
• Table titles should be at the top of each table, as shown in the example below, and written in central, italic, 11pt font size.

• Tables should not have vertical lines.
• The table header and bottom margins should be 1½ pt.
• Figure titles should be placed above the figure as in the following example and given in central, italic, 11 pt font size.

Appendix
• An appendix should be given on a new page after the bibliography.
• Each Appendix should be numbered as Appendix 1, Appendix 2.
• As given in the following example, the headings of the appendices should be placed at the top in central, italic, 11 pt font size.

Türkolog, tiyatrolog, çevirmen, Moskova Devlet Üniversitesi Asya ve Afrika Ülkeleri Enstitüsü Türkoloji Bölümü Başkan Yardımcısıdır. 1998 yılında Moskova Devlet Üniversitesi Asya ve Afrika Araştırmaları Enstitüsü’nden mezun oldu, aynı kurumda 2000 yılında master, 2003 yılında doktora tezini (Çağdaş Türk Oyunlarındaki Geleneksel Halk Tiyatrosu Öğeleri) savundu. 1999 yılından bu yana MDÜ Türkoloji Bölümünde öğretim üyesi olarak görev yapmaktadır. 2008 yılında doçent, 2017 yılında Türkoloji Bölümü Başkan Yardımcısı oldu.
Yabancı dil olarak Türkçe, eski ve yeni Türk edebiyatı, Türk tiyatro oyunları, çeviribilim alanında bilimsel çalışmalarını sürdüren Oganova’nın 80’ten fazla yayımlanmış makalesi, kitabı ve ders kitabı var. Oganova’nın yazdığı ‘Çağdaş Türkçe Ders Kitabı: Uygulamalı Dil Bilgisi’ (E. Larionova ile birlikte, üç cilt), ‘Rusça Türkçe Gazete Çeviri Ders Kitabı’ (S. Vorobyeva ile birlikte), ‘Türkçe Ders Kitabı: Alıştırmalı Türkçe Edebi Metinler’ (A. Kolomoytseva ile birlikte), ‘Türkçe Ders Kitabı: Oku, Öğren, Sev’ (A. Kolomoytseva ile birlikte) vs. ders kitapları Rusya’nın önde gelen üniversitesilerinin çoğunda kullanılmaktadır. Yaptığı bilimsel çalışmalardan dolayı Rusya’da birkaç ödüle layık görüldü.
Oganova bilimsel çalışmalarının yanısıra Türkçe’den Rusça’ya tiyatro oyunları çevirmektedir.
1970 yılından yayımlanan ‘Sovetskaya Turkologiya’ (Sovyet Türkolojisi) varisi olan, şu an itibariyle Rusya’nın Türkoloji alanında en önemli dergisi olan ‘Rossiyskaya Turkologiya’ (Rus Türkolojisi) dergisinin baş redaktör yardımcısıdır.
2020 yılından beri Türk Dil Kurumu Haberleşme Üyesi olarak seçilmiş bulunmaktadır.
Marija Đinđić Belgrad`da doğdu. İlkokul, ortaokul ve liseyi Belgrad`da okudu. 1995 yılında Belgrad Üniversitesi Filoloji Fakültesi Türk Dili ve Edebiyatı Bölümünü bitirdikten sonra aynı Fakültede yüksek lisans ve doktora yaptı.
Yüksek Lisans Tezi Konusu “Sırp Atçılığı Terminolojisinde Türk Alıntıları” (2002), Doktora Tez konusu ise “Çağdaş Sırp Dilinde Türkçe Alıntıları”(2014)dır. (Anlambilimsel-Türevsel Analiz).
1999 Sırp Bilimler ve Sanatlar Akademisi’nde Sırp Bilimler ve Sanatlar Akademisi Büyük Yazılı ve Halk Ağızları Sözlüğü projesinde asistan olarak çalışmaya başladı.
2001-2006 yılları arasında Ankara’aki Yugoslavya Büyükelçiliği’nde çalıştı.
2006 yılında tekrar Sırp Bilimler ve Sanatlar Akademisi’nde Sırp Bilimler ve Sanatlar Akademisi Büyük Yazılı ve Halk Ağızları Sözlüğü projesinde çalışmaya devam etti. Bu projede Sözlükteki Türkçeden alıntılar üzerine çalışmaktadır. 16, 18, 19, 20, 21. ve 22. ciltteki Türkçe alıntıların redaktörlüğünü yaptı.
Uzmanlık alanları: Karşılaştırmalı dilbilim, Türkçe ve Sırpça dilbilimi, leksikoloji ve leksikografidir.
Yurt içi ve yurt dışında konferanslara katılarak çok sayıda bildiri sundu.
2014 yılında TDK tarafindan basılan Yeni Türkçe-Sırpça Sözlük yazarıdir. Bu eserde, çağdaş Türk dilinin yaklaşık 51000 sözcüğü derlenmiş, incelenmiş ve işlenmiştir. İki ciltlik büyük İngilizce Türkçe sözlüğünden sonra bu sözlük, TDK'nın bugüne kadar yayımlamış olduğu en büyük sözlüktür. Akademide 2019 ylında profesör olarak atandı.
Nebojša Radić is Professor of Technology Enhanced Language Teaching at the Language Centre of the University of Cambridge in the UK. He is the Director of the University-wide Languages Programme (CULP). Nebojša earned his PhD in Creative Writing and Literary Self-Translation from the University of East Anglia (Norwich, UK), an MA in Teaching with Technology from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada), and an MA (Auckland, New Zealand) and BA (Belgrade, Serbia) in Italian Language and Literature. He is also recipient of a honorary Master Degree from the University of Cambridge. His academic interest ranges from the methodology of language teaching in blended and distance modes of delivery, teacher training, online resources design and development, creative writing, multilingualism, intercultural competence and communication, translingual literature, literary self-translation and journalism.

He completed his master's degree at Boğaziçi University, Department of Atatürk's Principles and History of Turkish Revolution in 2005 and his PhD at Istanbul University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of International Relations in 2012. He is currently a faculty member at Erciyes University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Political Science and Public Administration. His research interests include Turkish political life, health policies, immigrant integration, migration and public policy.

Prof. Dr. Şermin Tağıl was born in 1971 in Kabakum Village, Dikili district of İzmir. After completing her primary and secondary education in Kabakum Village, she graduated from İzmir Atatürk Health Vocational High School in 1989. Prof. Dr. Tağıl completed her undergraduate studies in the Department of Geography at Ege University in 1995. She earned her master’s degree in Physical Geography from the same university in 1998 and received her Ph.D. in Physical Geography from Ankara University in 2003.
She began her academic career in 1997 in the Department of Geography Education at Necatibey Faculty of Education, Balıkesir University. Between 1997 and 1999, she worked as a research assistant in the same department, and from 1999 to 2004, she continued as a research assistant in the Department of Physical Geography at the Faculty of Language, History, and Geography, Ankara University. In 2005, she was appointed as an assistant professor in the Department of Geography, Faculty of Science and Letters, Balıkesir University, and was promoted to associate professor in 2011. Since 2015, she has continued her academic and scientific work as a professor.
Prof. Dr. Şermin Tağıl, who served as the founding dean of the Faculty of Science and Letters at İzmir Bakırçay University between 2018 and 2020, has also served as the Head of the Department of Geography at the same university from 2018 to 2025.
To advance her academic career internationally, she received support from the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) and the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA). Under the TÜBİTAK 2219 Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, she conducted postdoctoral research in the Department of Natural Resources Conservation at the University of Massachusetts, joining international academic networks and collaborating with the global scientific community. She also conducted research at the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences, University of Texas at Austin, with the TÜBA Doctoral Research Fellowship.
Her areas of expertise include Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, climate change, land cover change, healthy ecosystems, landscape ecology, and sustainable management of ecological systems. She has served as both researcher and coordinator in TÜBİTAK and other national/international projects and has organized GIS training courses for teachers. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses, plays an active role in scientific projects aimed at raising environmental awareness among secondary school students, and mentors students in their scientific and academic development. Additionally, she raises public awareness about climate change and its impacts through media contributions and public-oriented academic content.
By developing innovative and student-centered approaches in education, she conducts studies to align the curriculum with contemporary requirements. Within the framework of the Faculty of Education Teaching Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Association (FEDEK), she has served as an evaluator, assessing the academic quality and continuous improvement processes of geography programs at various universities. In this context, she contributes to promoting excellence in education by examining the compliance of geography programs with accreditation standards.
Prof. Dr. Tağıl, a pioneer in social responsibility projects, launched the “Clothing Park” initiative at Balıkesir University in 2012, establishing a store that meets the clothing needs of thousands of students free of charge each year. Within this project, she also provided clothing support to Somali immigrant women and children and to students at Düvertepe Boarding Primary School, together with volunteer students. Through these donation efforts, she contributed to improving the living conditions of disadvantaged groups and managed the store on a voluntary basis until 2018.
Her scientific contributions have been recognized with various awards. In 2011, she received the “Outstanding Paper in Landscape Ecology” award from the U.S. Regional Association of the International Association for Landscape Ecology and was also honored with the TÜBİTAK Achievement Award during the same year’s TÜBİTAK Achievement Awards Days. Her interdisciplinary work on human–environment interactions has earned her a respected position in both national and international academic communities. Continuing her academic research, Prof. Dr. Şermin Tağıl actively supports young researchers and contributes to the advancement of academia.
