She served as a faculty member at the Faculty of Marine Sciences, Karadeniz Technical University, between 1990 and 2003, where she also earned her doctoral degree. Following her Ph.D., Prof. Dr. Nüket Sivri conducted postdoctoral research at the Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML) in the United Kingdom. During her associate professorship stage, she carried out projects and studies primarily focused on environmental interactions and microbial dynamics in coastal areas and antibiotic resistance mechanisms across different environmental settings.
Over the past 25 years, she has particularly concentrated on the Istanbul coastal zone, undertaking diverse projects as principal investigator and researcher to assess anthropogenic pressures and their ecological consequences. Her core research areas include regional and global-scale environmental impact assessment of aquatic ecosystems and coastal zones, antibacterial resistance in aquatic environments, water sanitation, and water quality, as well as indoor–outdoor microbial air quality.
More recently, together with her research team, she has been engaged in both national and international projects addressing globally emerging topics such as developing rapid methodologies for detecting the toxicity of industrial and domestic wastewater in marine ecosystems and elucidating the impacts of microplastics on aquatic microorganisms.
Prof. Dr. Nüket Sivri also participated in the 8th National Antarctic Science Expedition, conducted under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, and coordinated by TÜBİTAK MAM Polar Research Institute, where she performed field studies on the Antarctic Peninsula and Horseshoe Island. Additionally, she pursues research adopting a holistic perspective that prioritizes ecosystem health within the "One Health" approach framework.

Prof. Dr. Ilkay Erdogan Orhan holds a Pharmacist degree (1993) from Gazi University (Ankara, Türkiye), 1st M.Sc. degree from the Department of Pharmacognosy at the same Faculty (1996) with a young scientist scholarship provided by Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TUBITAK). Then, she was awarded her second M.Sc. degree in Marine Natural Product Chemistry in 1998 at the University of the Ryukyus in Japan, supported by a Monbusho scholarship. She earned a Ph.D. in Pharmacognosy at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Gazi University (Ankara, Türkiye) in 2002. She was a post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Chemistry at the University of Winnipeg (Canada) in 2003 under the NATO-TUBITAK fellowship program. She was promoted to Assoc. Prof. position by the Higher Education Council (Türkiye) in 2004 and to full professor in 2009. Dr. Orhan was appointed as Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Eastern Mediterranean University in Northern Cyprus (2011-2014) and Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Gazi University in Ankara (2016-2024). Since July, 2024, Prof. Orhan is the Dean of of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Lokman Hekim University . She is Vice President of the International Scientific Evaluation Board of the Austrian Drug Screening Institute (ADSI).
Dr. Orhan received several awards such as Young Woman Scientist Award in Asia continent by OWSD (Organization of Women in Science in Developing Countries) & Elsevier, Science Award in Biology by COMSTECH (OIC Standing Committee on Science and Technological Cooperation) in 2010, Young Woman Scientist Award (in Life Sciences) by L’Oreal & Turkish Academy of Sciences in 2011, and Honor Award by Gazi University in 2011, Innovation Award for Women in Turkey in 2015, Science Award by Turkish Association of Pharmacists in 2016, Golden Mortar Science Award in Pharmacy in 2017, Silver Medal for Patent in International Invention Fair by Turkish Ministry of Science and Technology in 2017 as well as Best Academic Invention Medal by International Federation of Invention Associations (IFIA) in 2018. She also received the TWAS (The World Academy of Sciences) Science Award in Chemistry and a Certificate of Outstanding Service and Achievement from the Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen's Foundation (TÜSİAV) and Climate Ambassador Award by the Turkish Vegan and Healthy Life Tourism Association (TEVSAD) & Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen Foundation (TÜSİAV) & Ministry of Environment and Urbanization in 2024. She is the principal member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) and was the Representative of Southeast Europe & Turkey Region for the Phytochemical Society of Europe (PSE) for 2019-2023.
She is the author of more than 295 scientific papers listed by SCE, 47 articles in other scientific journals, 24 book chapters, 4 patents (Turkish, US, & EP), 6 patent applications, and 4 books. Her h index is 56 (Web of Science) and 60 (SCOPUS) with over 15000 citations. Her research interests are chemistry and bioactivities of natural products, natural cosmetics, phytotherapy, sports pharmacy, and aromatherapy. She is currently Associate Editor of Phytomedicine.
Ahmet Mutlu GÖZLER carried out research for a PhD on the reproduction biology on bivalves. His work includes both the effects of ecological factors on living things and invertebrates. Specialization: (i) Main area Marine Biology. He conducts studies on the distribution of marine invertebrates and the determination of the ecological quality of the seas. (ii) Current research areas invertebrates in the Black Sea and Marine pollution (iii) marine litter and microplastics
Mustafa Turkmen is a full Professor in the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science & Arts, Giresun University. He is head of Department of General Biology. He has 35 years of professional experience in his area. He has successfully organized national and international symposium. He has managed a lot of projects. Mustafa Turkmen has supervised a total of 43 (twenty nine) postgraduate students to completion. Additionally, he is currently supervising a total of twelve (12) postgraduate students. 1986 yılında Atatürk Üniversitesi Ziraat Fakültesi’nden mezun oldu. Ziraat Bankası bünyesinde Ziraat Mühendisi olarak 1988-1993 yılları arasında 6 yıl görev yaptıktan sonra 1993 yılında Atatürk Üniversitesi Ziraat Fakültesi Su Ürünleri Bölümünde Araştırma Görevlisi olarak çalışmaya başladı. Aynı üniversitenin Su Ürünleri Anabilim Dalında 1993-2000 yılları arasında Yüksek Lisans ve Doktora Eğitimini tamamladı. Mustafa Kemal Üniversitesine 1998 yılında Araştırma Görevlisi olarak naklen atanmış olup, Su Ürünleri alanında 2000 yılında Yrd. Doç. Dr., 2002 yılında Doç. Dr. ve 2007 yılında Prof. Dr. Unvanlarını almıştır.
Uluslararası dergilerde 98 adet olmak üzere toplam 189 adet yayımlanmış bilimsel çalışması bulunan Prof. TÜRKMEN’in bilimsel yayınlarına uluslararası indeksli dergilerde yapılmış 4250 adet atıf bulunmaktadır. Diğer taraftan çok sayıda yüksek lisans ve doktora tezi yönetmiş olan Prof. Dr. Mustafa TÜRKMEN, Avrupa Birliği fonları, Tübitak ve DPT projeleri başta olmak üzere 63 adet projede yürütücü, araştırmacı, danışman ve eğitmen olarak yer almıştır. 12 adet ulusal, 33 adet uluslararası konferansa bildirileriyle katılan Prof. Dr. TÜRKMEN’in alanındaki uluslararası dergilerde 825 adet yayın hakemliği bulunmaktadır. Diğer taraftan, 2 tanesi baş editörlük olmak üzere 16 adet uluslararası dergide Editörlük görevini de yürütmektedir. Aynı şekilde 12 adet uluslararası kitap editörlüğü de bulunmaktadır.
Yaklaşık 42 adet lisansüstü öğrenci danışmanlığı yürütmüştür. Pek çok lisansüstü tez değerlendirmesinde de Jüri Üyesi olarak görev alan TÜRKMEN, Yrd. Doç., Doç. ve Prof. jürilerinde de görev yapmaktadır. Pek çok ulusal ve uluslararası ödüle sahip olan Prof. TÜRKMEN’ in aldığı ödüllerden bazıları şunlardır; 37 adet TÜBİTAK Uluslararası yayın teşvik ödülü, “Certificate of Reviewing Award 2015”, “Highly Cited Researchers Award-2016”, “Certified Centinel of Science Award Recipient 2016 ve 2018-as one of the top 10 per cent of researchers”, “Akademik ve Bilimsel Vizyon Ödülü 2016”, “Publons Peer Review Award 2017-as one of the top 1 per cent of peer review in Multidisciplinary”, yaklaşık 29 adet “Certificate of Excellence in Reviewing Award”. Ayrıca, Prof. Türkmen, Uluslararası toplantılarda, oturum başkanlığı, sempozyum koordinatörlüğü, düzenleme kurulu üyeliği, bilim kurulu üyeliği görevleri de yapmış olup, akademik ve bilimsel amaçla yaklaşık 18 ülkede bulunmuştur.
Halen Giresun Üniversitesi Biyoloji bölümünde Profesör olarak çalışmakta olan TÜRKMEN akademik hayatı boyunca uzun yıllar idarecilikler de yapmış olup, bunlardan bazıları; Rektör yardımcılığı, Mühendislik, Eğitim ve Spor Bilimleri Fakültesi dekanlıkları (12 yıl), çeşitli birimlerde bölüm ve Anabilim dalı başkanlıkları (25 yıl), Yüksekokul müdürlüğü olup, bazıları halen devam etmektedir.

Born in 1966 in the Torul district of Gümüşhane province, Coşkun ERÜZ completed his primary and secondary education in Trabzon. He began his undergraduate studies at the KTÜ Marine Science Faculty Fisheries Technology and Technology in 1984 and graduated with a Fisheries Technology Engineer title in 1988. He completed his master's degree at the Institute of Science at the same university in 1992. He completed his doctorate at the same institute in 1999 and received his doctorate. He was appointed to the Sürmene School of Marine Sciences and Technology as a Research Assistant in 1991 and began working as an Assistant Professor in the same department in 1999. He began working in the Department of Marine Sciences and Technology Engineering in 2023, becoming an Associate Professor in 2019 and a Professor in 2022. He continues to work in the same department. In addition to his administrative roles as department vice chair and vice dean, he has served on numerous administrative committees, faculty boards, and administrative boards. His teaching, research, and publications focus on physical oceanography, marine pollution, coastal areas, coastal structures and management, and marine meteorology.

2004-2014 yılları arasında özel sektörde Veteriner Hekim olarak Pet, Kanatlı ve Büyükbaş hekimliği alanlarında görev yapmıştır. Aynı zamanda 200 koloni arı ile ticari arıcılık faaliyetleri yürütmüştür. Bolu Arı yetiştirici Birliğinin 326 nolu üyesidir. Hobi olarak başladığı kanarya üreticiliğini profesyonel olarak sürdürmüş olup Bolu Ornitoloji derneğinin üyesidir. Doktorasını Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi/Lisansüstü Eğitim Enstitüsü/Dölerme ve Suni Tohumlama (Dr)/ 2021 tamamlayan Özkök, Bal arıları ve ötücü kuşlarda sperma kalitesi, kriyoprezervasyon ve suni tohumlama çalışmalarının yanında Nesli tükenme tehlikesi altında olan yabani ispinoz türlerinin korunabilmesine yönelik alanında çalışmalar ve projeler yapmaktadır.

He started canary breeding as a hobby and continued professionally, and is member of the Bolu Ornithology Association. Özkök, who completed his doctorate at Ondokuz Mayıs University/Graduate Education Institute/Reproduction and Artificial Insemination (Dr)/ 2021, carries out studies and projects in the field of sperm quality, cryopreservation, and artificial insemination in honey bees and songbirds, as well as studies on the protection of wild finch species that are at risk of extinction.

Prof. Dr. Ülkü Alver Şahin is working at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, Environmental Engineering Department. She has worked as a researcher at University of Birmingham (UK and Carleton University (Canada). Her research interests are air pollution and climate change. She has joined 4 international projects as a researcher supported by Newton Fund, UK, European Union’s Horizon 2020, Atlas and ATMO-ACCESS TNA Project. She has managed or been as researcher 25 University-Industry collaboration, 30 Tübitak funded and 30 university funded projects. Şahin has received University-Industry cooperation research project first prize, climate leader award, Tübitak publication incentive award, university successful researcher award. Dr. Şahin has more than 50 SCI publications and over 1200 citations. She has supervised 13 master's and 3 doctoral theses.
Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Vildan Zülal Sönmez, 2023 yılından bu yana Düzce Üniversitesi Çevre Mühendisliği Bölümü’nde öğretim üyesi olarak görev yapmaktadır. Akademik kariyerine 2014 yılında İstanbul Üniversitesi Çevre Mühendisliği Bölümü’nde araştırma görevlisi olarak başlamış, 2018-2023 yılları arasında İstanbul Üniversitesi-Cerrahpaşa’da aynı görevini sürdürmüştür.
Yüksek lisans tezinde (2017), tekstil endüstrisi atıksularının akut toksisite üzerindeki etkisini incelemiş; 2023 yılında ise kıyısal alanlarda mikroplastiklerin tespiti, dağılımı, toksisitesi ve giderim mekanizmalarını ele aldığı doktora tezini tamamlamıştır. Araştırmaları; mikroplastiklerin atıksu ve deniz suyu ortamlarında yenilikçi yöntemlerle belirlenmesi, koagülasyon ve elektrokoagülasyon gibi arıtım teknolojileriyle giderilmesi konularına odaklanmaktadır.
Ekotoksikoloji alanında; akut toksisite testlerinin uygulanması, endüstriyel atıksuların toksik etkilerinin belirlenmesi ve hızlı toksisite analiz yöntemlerinin geliştirilmesi konularında uzmanlığa sahiptir. Ayrıca, yerel müsilaj sorunlarına yönelik çözüm odaklı projelerde yer almakta; kutup bölgelerindeki kritik hammaddelerin artışına bağlı çevresel kirleticiler ve bunların toksik etkileri üzerine çalışmalar yürütmektedir. Uzmanlık alanları arasında; ekotoksikoloji, su kirliliği ve kontrolü, sıfır atık yönetimi, plastik ve mikroplastik kirliliği yer almaktadır.
İdari görevleri kapsamında; 2023 yılından itibaren Düzce Üniversitesi Sıfır Atık Yönetimi Koordinatörlüğü'nde Koordinatör Yardımcısı, 2024 yılından itibaren Merkez Laboratuvar Müdür Yardımcısı ve 2025 yılından itibaren ise Çevre Mühendisliği Bölümü Bölüm Başkan Yardımcısı olarak görev yapmaktadır.
