Ethics Committee Approval Information

The Journal of Diplomatic Research adopts the publication ethics principles and best practice guidelines determined by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).

Research Requiring Ethics Committee Approval

Ethics committee approval is mandatory for the following types of research:

  • All types of research conducted with qualitative or quantitative approaches that require data collection from participants using survey, interview, focus group study, observation, experiment, interview techniques
  • Experimental or other scientific use of humans and animals (including materials/data)
  • Clinical research on humans
  • Research on animals
  • Retrospective studies in accordance with the personal data protection law

Other Ethical Requirements
  • Obtaining and indicating permission from the owners for the use of scales, questionnaires, photographs belonging to others
  • Indicating compliance with copyright regulations for intellectual and artistic works used

Researchers who are not university members can also apply to Ethics Committees in their regions.
