Reviewer Guidelines

Articles submitted to The Journal of Diplomatic Research are initially received through the Dergipark system. The article is subject to preliminary evaluation by the editor or field editor in terms of the journal's scope, writing rules, and ethical standards. These guidelines contain the criteria to be considered in the article evaluation process for esteemed scientists who will undertake the review duty at The Journal of Diplomatic Research. In addition to these guidelines, review conditions based on COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) principles must be fulfilled for an objective and qualified review process.

Reviewer Selection and System

A double-blind review system is applied to scientific research, review, theoretical, and other types of articles submitted for publication to The Journal of Diplomatic Research. Keeping the identities of reviewers confidential is the responsibility of the editorship. Reviewers are selected from among researchers who have at least a doctorate degree in the relevant field, have publications related to the article topic, and have scientific experience.

Impartial and Objective Evaluation and Reporting

During the evaluation process, reviewers must conduct an impartial and objective evaluation solely within the framework of scientific quality and the journal's objectives, without being influenced by the authors' personal characteristics such as religion, language, race, gender, ethnic origin, or political views. Reviewers must declare potential conflicts of interest that may arise with the author(s) or editorship and comply with the principle of confidentiality. They must not share information obtained during the evaluation process with third parties. Additionally, reviewers must submit reasoned and constructive evaluation reports and clearly express correction requests, if any.

Correction, Review, and Contribution to Editorial Decision

Reviewers must re-examine the revisions made by authors in line with their impartial and objective evaluations and correction requests. They must communicate their final opinion regarding the article at the end of the evaluation. This opinion plays an important role in determining the final decision that the editorial board will make regarding the acceptance or rejection of the article.

Ethical Violations and Citation Requests

Reviewers must be sensitive regarding research and publication ethics violations, be vigilant against possible ethical violations in articles, and report the situations they identify to the editor. Reviewers must not request authors to cite themselves or their close colleagues' works.
