Research Article

IYYU MOZAIKA Journal of Language, Literature, Culture and Translation aims to contribute to the academic community by publishing original theoretical and practical research at a national and an international level in the fields of language, literature, culture, translation, and related interdisciplinary areas. It accepts research articles, review articles, compilations, book reviews, and translations that meet its publication principles in terms of content and form.

IYYU MOZAIKA Journal of Language, Literature, Culture and Translation follows a double-blind review process and publishes original research in Turkish, English, French, Azerbaijani Turkish, and all contemporary Turkic dialects. It focuses on language, literature, culture, and translation while also welcoming interdisciplinary studies related to these fields.

The structure of the manuscript must follow the following order: abstract, main body, extended abstract (for manuscripts not written in English), references, and appendices (if any). The main body must include clearly identified introduction, and conclusion sections. The introduction should sufficiently explain the topic, aim, scope, framework, and the theoretical foundation of the study, and should outline how these components are presented throughout the manuscript. Main headings, sub-headings and intermediate headings should be used by the author to maintain clarity and a logical flow. The conclusion must present the findings in alignment with the aims stated in the introduction. It should reflect the study’s scope and outcomes and must not introduce new topics that are not previously discussed in the main body.

The manuscript title should be expressive and reflective of the content. It must be centred, written in bold, all uppercase letters, using 12-point font size, and should not include paragraph indentation. Section headings within the text should be aligned to the left, bold, and use title case (only the first letter of each word capitalized), without any additional formatting.

Unless otherwise decided by the editorial board, manuscripts in all languages will not be considered for evaluation if the abstract section is shorter than 200 words or longer than 250 words. The same rule applies to manuscripts whose the main body of the text (excluding abstract and references) is shorter than 5,000 words or longer than 7,000 words. Each submission must include a title and an abstract in two languages, accompanied by at least 3 and no more than 5 keywords in both languages. The abstract should briefly and clearly convey the purpose, scope, framework, and theoretical background of the study. It must be written in 10-point font size, and unless absolutely necessary, it should not include citations, table, figure, or chart numbers.

Margins2.5 cm on all sides
FontTimes New Roman
Font StyleNormal
Font Size (Main Text)12
Font Size (Footnotes)10
Font Size (Tables and Figures)10
Paragraph Indent1 cm
Paragraph SpacingBefore: 6 pt, after: 0 pt (for tables and figures: before and after: 0 pt)
Line Spacing1.15

References should use a hanging indent of 0.63 cm, be fully justified, have a spacing of 6 pt before and 0 pt after, and a line spacing of 1.15.
If a special font is used in the manuscript, the corresponding font file must also be submitted along with the text.

Words should not be hyphenated at the end of lines. The TAB key should not be used to indent paragraphs; instead, the ENTER or RETURN key should be used. Punctuation marks must be written directly adjacent to the preceding word, and a single space must be left after such marks.

Page numbers, headers, and footers should not be included in the manuscript. Footnotes should be used only when needed and must be inserted automatically using the “References / Insert Footnote” command. Citations in footnotes must include the author’s surname, the year of publication, and the page number in parentheses. E.g.: (Yılmaz, 2000, p. 15). Any source cited in a footnote must also be listed in the references.

Quotations: Throughout the manuscript, direct quotations must be enclosed in quotation marks and cited in accordance with APA 7 rules at the end of the quote.

    a) Short Quotations

According to APA 7, quotations of up to 40 words should be placed within double quotation marks in the main text and written in regular (non-italicized) font style. A page number must be provided after the quote. Use the abbreviation “p.” for a single page (e.g., p. 25) and “pp.” for multiple pages (e.g., pp. 25–27).

    b) Long Quotations

According to APA 7, quotations of 40 words or more should be formatted as a block quote in regular (non-italicized) font style, indented 1.25 cm from the left margin, and presented without quotation marks.

Images, photographs, and figures used in the manuscript must be clear, bright, and high contrast. They must comply with the formatting rules provided. Figures, tables, images, and photographs must not exceed the page margins; if necessary, each should be placed on a separate page. Figures and tables must be numbered and titled appropriately. Numbers and titles should be written with only the first letter of each word capitalized, with figure titles placed below the figures and table titles above the tables.

Tables should be created using the table tool in Microsoft Word. If needed Microsoft Excel tables may also be used. Explanatory footnotes or abbreviations, if required, should be placed directly below the figure or table.

The total number of figures, tables, photographs, and images must not exceed 10 pages.

The APA 7 citation system must be used throughout the manuscript and in-text citations and references must comply with APA 7 guidelines. A reference list must be included at the end of the manuscript.

All submissions must be checked, by the author for similarity using iThenticate or Turnitin and the similarity rate (excluding references) must be below 20%. Reports must be uploaded along with the manuscript. Submissions that do not meet this criterion will be desk-rejected.

In book reviews and translations, the title, abstract, and keywords must be provided in English. For book reviews, the beginning of the text must include the book’s cover image and bibliographic information (publication year, edition number, place of publication). In translations, a footnote must be added indicating the bibliographic details of the translated source.

Manuscripts that do not adhere to the journal’s guidelines on citation and referencing (APA 7) will not be accepted unless corrected.

Following acceptance for publication, a 500–1000-word extended abstract in English must be prepared for manuscripts written in languages other than English. The extended abstract should account for approximately 10–15% of the total word count and provide a detailed elaboration of the content presented in the abstract section.

The manuscripts submitted to the journal should not have been published anywhere before or accepted for publication in a future issue. All legal, financial, and ethical responsibilities that may arise from the content of submitted manuscripts rest with the author(s); the journal assumes no liability in this regard.

IYYU Mozaika Journal of Language, Literature, Culture, and Translation adheres to national and international standards of research and publication ethics. It complies with the Press Law, the Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works, and the “Directive on Scientific Research and Publication Ethics” issued by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) in Turkey.

The publication processes implemented by the editorial boards of the journal are based on the principle of sharing knowledge in an impartial and transparent manner. Peer-reviewed studies represent and support the application of scientific methodology. The journal maintains a firm stance against plagiarism and predatory publishing practices. Therefore, authors who wish to submit their work to the journal are expected to ensure that their submissions are original, research-based and that they contribute to current debates and research in the academia while complying with the journal’s editorial and publication guidelines. Authors must also declare that they have read and accepted the journal’s editorial principles and must take into account the Directive on Scientific Research and Publication Ethics published by the Council of Higher Education.

The journal places particular importance on ensuring that reviewers fulfil their responsibility to enhance academic quality during the evaluation of submitted manuscripts. To achieve this end, submissions selected for review are assigned to reviewers whose expertise and academic experience align with the subject matter of the work. Reviewers are expected to assess manuscripts in accordance with academic criteria, to provide objective reports, and to complete their evaluations within the given timeframe.

Editors are responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of the academic publication process. They are expected to accept and conduct preliminary evaluations of submissions that contribute to the journal’s scope and to reject those that do not meet the specified criteria. Furthermore, editors are primarily responsible for maintaining mutual confidentiality between researchers and reviewers, preventing possible instances of plagiarism, and upholding academic and ethical standards throughout all stages of the journal’s operations.
