Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Journal of Faculty of Education (MSKÜ Journal of Education) aims to inform its readers (stakeholders) about the problems in science, education and other fields in Turkey and in the world, as well as the solutions and developments related to them.
The journal includes research articles and reviews on education, teaching, teacher training and field education. The journal prioritizes original research and articles using various methodologies, test development studies, critical and integrative literature reviews and meta-analysis studies.

AUTHOR GUIDE
We kindly request you to pay attention to the following points when submitting an article to our journal:
Submission Process:
- Please carefully review the Author Guidelines (at the bottom of the journal homepage) for article submission.
- For the first submission, the article does not have to be in English. However, if accepted, a template-compliant English version will be requested.
- Articles should be 7500 words (10000 words for qualitative research) including abstract, footnotes and references.
- Tables and figures in the manuscript should be limited in number to best support and explain the content in accordance with the nature of the research or study. These visual elements should be carefully selected to present data clearly, summarize complex information or highlight important findings.

An article goes through different processes from Initial Submission to Publication. Information about what is done in which process of the article and what is required from the author is explained in the following articles. The author can follow the processes of his/her article and learn what needs to be done in the process from these articles. In this way, it can contribute to the process to flow faster.
Article Writing Rules
Manuscripts submitted to Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Journal of Faculty of Education should not have been published elsewhere or submitted for publication. The publication rights of all articles accepted for publication in all media belong to Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Journal of Faculty of Education. The opinions in the articles published in the journal are the sole responsibility of the author and have no binding effect on the journal boards.
The principles of Blind Refereeing are followed when submitting an article to a journal section where articles that have passed the peer review are published.
Submitted manuscripts must comply with the spelling rules determined by the Turkish Language Association.
Important Notes:
1- More than one article by the same author cannot be published in two consecutive issues, even with different authors (Journal Editorial Board decision 21.09.2021).
2- Starting from the November 2022 issue, the full text of all articles published will be published in English as well as the full text in Turkish. The Turkish full text of the articles of the authors who do not submit the English full text of their articles will not be published (even if it is accepted as a result of peer review) (Journal Editorial Board decision 21.09.2021).
3- In studies that require ethics committee approval (for example, studies conducted with data collected on humans or animals), it is mandatory to upload the ethics committee approval document, regardless of the date of data collection. Manuscripts that have not uploaded the ethics committee permission document will not be included in the evaluation process. (Decision of the Board of Editors of the Journal 21.09.2021)

Research and Publication Ethics
Ethical Principles and Publication Policy
MSKÜ Journal of Education has been published since November 2014 and has been indexed in TR Dizin since 2019; it has been indexed in EBSCO since March 2026. According to ULAKBIM's decision of February 25, 2020, in clinical and experimental studies (human/animal) that require ethics committee approval, this approval must be stated and documented in the article. Articles without approval are not accepted. Researchers outside the university must obtain approval from regional ethics committees.
Authors must comply with the YÖK Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Guidelines and avoid “Actions Contrary to Scientific Research and Publication Ethics.” The journal applies publication ethics in accordance with the YÖK Principles of Ethical Conduct and the TÜBİTAK Research and Publication Ethics Regulations, adopting the standards established by COPE. In this context, in cases of misuse or violation of publication ethics, it refers to the publication ethics tools developed by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) (https://publicationethics.org/guidance-and-tools).
In studies requiring ethics committee permission, the permission information (name of the committee, date, number) should be included in the method section and on the first/last page of the article. Informed consent form should be indicated in case reports and copyright regulations should be complied with.
Ethical Rules for Authors
- Authors should submit their original educational sciences and field education studies to the journal.
- References should be organized according to APA-7 rules.
- The article should not be submitted to another journal at the same time; “Copyright Transfer Form” should be submitted.
- Authors should indicate only those who have contributed as authors; those who have not contributed should not be added.
- Documents such as reports, statistics, observation data, etc. should be submitted upon referee request (5-year retention obligation).
- If an error is noticed, the editor should be informed.
Code of Ethics for Referees
- Double blind reviewing is applied; author and reviewer identities are confidential. All communication is done through DergiPark.
- Referees are selected from experts in the field of the article. In interdisciplinary studies, at least two referees from different fields are appointed.
- External referees are prioritized for internal articles.
- Referees must be at least PhD level; they can be selected from domestic/foreign, public/foundation universities or retired faculty members.
- If two referees' reports are insufficient for a decision, a third referee is appointed.
- Reviewers should inform the journal if they recognize any conflict of interest.
- Reviews should be descriptive, reasoned and courteous. The referee is warned in case of poor style; action is taken in case of repetition.
- Reviewers should evaluate the manuscript within the given time limit.
Ethical Rules for the Editor and Deputy Editor
- Editors organize the functioning of the journal according to the regulations of YÖK and TÜBİTAK; they must comply with all ethical principles.
- The editor, deputy editors and field editors are responsible for the published articles.
General Duties
- The editor should increase the contribution of the journal to the field and carry out development work with field editors.
- A guiding, not hierarchical, relationship should be established with authors.
Editor-Reader Relationship
- Content that does not require referees, such as letters to the editor and invited articles, should be clearly indicated.
- Articles should be appropriate to the knowledge and skills of the readers.
Editor-Reviewer Relationship
- Articles should be sent to appropriate referees, double blindness should be maintained.
- Reviewers should be timely and accurate
Editor-Author Relationship
- Spelling rules should be clearly stated and changes should be announced immediately.
- Manuscripts are forwarded to the field editor; eligibility, spelling and bibliography are checked. Reasons for rejection are notified to the author.
- Article submission and acceptance dates are specified.
- Authors' article questions are answered.
Editor-Board of Editors Relationship
- Field editors should be selected from experts and contributors.
- Responsibility should be taken for objectivity, compliance with spelling rules and journal development.
Plagiarism and Unethical Behavior
- Articles are scanned with iThenticate; 20% similarity is the upper limit. If it is higher, a correction is requested, if it is not corrected within a week, it is rejected.
- If plagiarism is detected, the article will not be published.
- Unethical behaviors:
o Unfair authorship (addition/removal of contributors/non-contributors).
o Failure to mention thesis/project-based studies.
o Slicing (dividing a study into multiple articles).
o Failure to declare conflict of interest.
o Deciphering double blindness.
o Publishing the same study in different languages.
Reviewer Evaluation Process
- Articles should be related to education/field of study.
- Initial evaluation is done at the journal secretariat; if corrections are needed, they are returned to the author.
- Suitable articles are sent to two referees. It is published with two positive reports; if one positive and one negative, it goes to the third referee.
- Referees may ask for corrections; the author should make the changes and justify them if necessary.
- The review period is 10 days (can be extended).
- The field editor can make the following decisions:
o Publication.
o Acceptance with correction.
o Request editing for further evaluation.
o Rejection.
*About Articles in Acceptance and Publication Process:
Before review by language editors, the article must be uploaded by the corresponding author as a single Word document (English first, then Turkish).

Editorial Board Decisions (10.04.2026)
1. For manuscripts whose peer review and editorial processes have been completed, a DOI may be assigned upon the approval of the Journal Editorial Board, and the relevant manuscript may be published as an early view article. It is essential that articles published in early view be included in one of the subsequent issues in accordance with the journal’s publication schedule.
2. Except where deemed necessary, the Journal Editorial Board conducts the evaluation process without requesting reviewer suggestions from authors.
3. As a matter of principle, individuals who may have academic, institutional, or personal relationships with the authors shall not be appointed as reviewers. However, in cases where no potential conflict of interest exists, the final evaluation shall be made by the Editorial Board.
4. During the manuscript evaluation process, the corresponding author is required to submit a “Response to Reviewers” file containing responses to the reviewers’ reports and details of the revisions made.
5. Within the same calendar year, manuscripts authored by the same author or authors may not be published in different issues, in consecutive issues, or in issues published before or after special issues in a continuing sequence. The Editorial Board may make decisions regarding the publication of studies by the same authors in different or consecutive issues on the basis of balance and publication planning.
6. For submissions made for publication in the journal by the Owner, Editor-in-Chief, Editor, or Associate Editors of the Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Journal of Education, the principles of editorial impartiality, transparency, and independent evaluation shall apply. In such cases, the persons concerned shall be excluded from participation in the editorial decision-making processes.
7. Articles authored by scholars affiliated with Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University may be included in an issue. However, in order to ensure institutional diversity, it is essential that the number of such articles not exceed approximately 20% of the total number of articles published in the relevant issue. Where necessary, exceptional cases shall be evaluated by the Journal Editorial Board.
8. Articles authored by individuals serving on the Journal Board of the Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Journal of Education may be included in an issue. However, in line with the principles of impartiality, transparency, and publication diversity, it is essential that the number of such articles not exceed approximately 10% of the total number of articles published in the relevant issue. In exceptional cases, the final decision shall be made by the Journal Editorial Board.
9. In determining the journal cover, imprint, and article template, the templates prepared by the Scientific Journals Coordinatorship of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University and approved by the Journal Editorial Office shall be taken as the basis. Where needed, technical and formal adjustments may be made by decision of the Journal Editorial Board.
10. In the event of changes in the Editor and/or the Editorial Board, it is essential that the transfer of duties, authority, and responsibilities be carried out fully in order to prevent any disruption in the functioning of the journal. In this context, information and documents relating to index applications, access authorizations, institutional e-mail addresses and passwords of the journal, editorial workflow processes, and other relevant matters must be duly transferred to the new team.
