Author Guidelines

 

General Information

• Your research-review, publication critique, and translation articles, which are suitable for the journal concept, should be prepared in accordance with the tarihyazımı Publication Template.
• For critiques and translation articles, the shape and format must still comply with the publication template, but the sections and section headings are determined by the authors to suit the content.
• Please use APA 6 (Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th edition, 2009) as the citation system for the articles you submit to tarihyazımı.
• For further information, please refer to the APA 6 Guide.

Submission Checklist
Authors should check that their submissions comply with all the items in the list below during the application process; submissions that do not comply with this guide will be returned to the authors.
 

 

1. The submitted article has not been previously published or submitted for evaluation to another journal.

 

2. Articles can be written in Turkish or English.

• An Abstract (in Turkish) and an Abstract (in English), each not exceeding 250 words, must be provided in the form found in the sample publication template.    

   • Turkish abstracts are not included in articles written in English.
   • Article titles should not exceed 15 words.
   • Also, 5 – 7 Keywords in both languages must be submitted.

 

3. Studies published in Turkish must include an Extended Summary in English at the beginning, under the main headings of the article, with a length of at least 750 and a maximum of 1000 words.
   • (Extended summaries may also be sent after the article is accepted for publication. Short and extended Turkish summaries are not required for articles written in English.)
 

 

4. Article length (word limit):
   • Turkish articles should not exceed 11,000 words (including abstract, extended summary, and bibliography).
   • For articles whose publication language is English, the entire article should not exceed 10,000 words.
 

 

5. The total number of tables and figures used in an article should not exceed 10. Authors should only tabulate issues they consider important and have difficulty summarizing as text.
 

 

6. The submitted Article is prepared in accordance with the American Publication Manual 6th Edition (APA-6) format.
 

 

7. In the "Introduction" section, the rationale for writing the article is explained with an analytical presentation of general literature information regarding the subject area.
 

   • It is expected that the "method" used in the study is briefly mentioned afterward, even if a separate heading is not opened.
 

   • In the "Conclusion" section, final opinions on the problematics of the article are written.
   • The headings in the article are determined by the author according to the development of each article.
   • The section headings in theoretical, essay, and compilation-type articles are determined to suit the content.

 

   • The main "findings" of the review must be included in the development section of the article, and a "discussion" must be made.

 

8. Review and research articles are prepared in accordance with the tarihyazımı Publication Template.
 

 

9. For critique and translation articles, the formal requirements specified in the publication template must be adhered to, but the sections and headings are determined by the authors to suit the content, independent of the Publication Template.
 

 

10. The application must be in Microsoft Word file (.doc or .docx) format.
 

 

11. The initial submission text should not include identifying information of the authors, such as name, institution, and address.
 

 

Guide for Translation Articles
This section has been prepared to evaluate and share Turkish translations of important articles in the fields of historiography, interdisciplinary history, philosophy of history, sociology of history, etc., which were published in a language other than Turkish and are mostly theoretical.
 

 

Important Points for Submitting Translation Articles
   • Obtaining permission to publish from the copyright holder (individual or institution) for translation and republication.
   • Translating the entire article (without skipping any section or paragraph).
   • Not adding supplementary explanations to the main text in the translation; necessary explanations and evaluations should be made in a footnote as (T.N. - Translator's Note).
   • Sending the original text and the Turkish translation along with the permission document.
 

 

Guide for Publication Critique
Your publication critique work must again conform to the publication template in terms of form and format, but the sections and section headings should be determined by the authors according to the content.

Ethical Committee Approval

With the decision of ULAKBİM on February 25th, 2020, there is a condition that "All the disciplines of science (including social sciences), there should be an Ethical Committee Approval for research involving human and animal (clinical and experimental) separately and this approval must be mentioned in the article and it should be documented". The research conducted by quantitative or qualitative approaches which require data collection such as questionnaire, interview, observation, focus group study, the experiment is regarded under the aforementioned content.
