Aim of the Journal

"Turkish Journal of Primary Education (TUJPED)" is an academic and scientific international journal published in 2016. Languages of the Journal are in Turkish and English. Manuscripts, which are accepted, are published online. 

TUJPED aims to provide contributions to bring about the current situation in the field of education-training (elemenraty school level) process and teacher training, draw attention to problems and propose solution by publishing the original studies conducted in primary and elementary school level.

Important Announcement !

It has been decided to request "Ethics Committee Approval" and "Plagiarism Report" for the studies to be sent to our journal for publication in 2022 and later issues. Accordingly, authors who will send articles to our journal as of November 2021 are required to upload the "Copyright Form" to the system during the article application, as well as the "Ethics Committee Approval Document" to be obtained from the Social / Human Sciences Ethics Committees of the universities and the "Plagiarism Report" from plagiarism programs. Studies in which these documents are not uploaded or uploaded incompletely will not be included in the referee review process and will be returned.

Scope of the Journal

The Journal publishes are accepted original empirical and compilation articles in the following areas.

Manuscripts sent to TUJPED will be reviewed primarily by the editors' board for the purpose and scope of the magazine. Since the evaluation process of the magazine is done electronically, the authors should submit their article proposals electronically via DergiPark by arranging the "sample template" appropriately.

After receiving the preliminary evaluation of the candidate article in terms of form and content, the editor directs two referees with a degree of doctorate, registered in the magazine system as required by "Blind Refereeing Practice". The "Referee Evaluation Form" is added to the evaluation process so that the candidate article, author names and identity information are not included. In this process, the referees are given 30 days. The referees may accept it as if it were a candidate article; they may request a small or detailed correction or refuse the article. At the end of the evaluation, the corrections are directed to the author along with the referee's comments. The study will be published if the two referees receive a "publishable" opinion. If one of the referees makes a positive evaluation, one of the referees is sent a third referee. The final decision within the framework of the evaluations of the referees belongs to the editors' board.


Ater the serialization of the articles which can be published in the magazine, it is sent to the authors and requested from the pre-printing eye. All responsibility for the submitted works belongs to the authors. If the error originates from the editorial office, the correction may be published. The copyright of the published works can not be transferred without reference to the journal.

Important Notice: The authors must upload two manuscripts, one named and the other anonymous on the system of the Journal. They must also upload a Copyright Form and Etics Decleration Form on the system.

Publication Ethics
Turkish Journal of Primary Education (TUJPED) has a publication ethics and policy based on the scientific production, development, application and sharing of knowledge. TUJPED's publication ethics policy is based on the guidelines and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) on open access.
If it is determined that the data and information used in the articles submitted for examination and evaluation to TUJPED are manipulated, distorted and fabricated data is used, this situation will be officially notified to the institution where the article writer works and the article will be rejected directly. TUJPED reserves the right to request data or output files of the analysis results from the authors according to the opinions, suggestions, feedbacks and corrections given by the editor, editorial board and reviewers.
Publisher's Ethical Responsibilities
TUJPED is a non-profit journal that started publishing in 2016. It aims to convey new perspectives, methods, approaches, problems and suggestions on academic, scientific and social issues in the fields of elementary and primary education and teacher education in these fields to its readers, educators and anyone interested in the topics covered by the journal.
TUJPED's editorial board consists of academicians who are experts in their fields, competent and experienced. At TUJPED, an editor and one or more field editors and other staff members are appointed by the chairman of the editorial board. A new member is appointed to replace the member who resigns from these duties.

Responsibilities of TUJPED Editorial Board
- The Editorial Board is responsible for all processes of each article submitted to TUJPED, and the Editorial Board knows this responsibility. This responsibility requires making independent decisions considering only the public interest. The relationship between the Publisher and the Editorial Board is based on the principle of independence, and all decisions taken by the editors are independent of the publisher and other persons and organizations.
- The TUJPED Editorial Board strives to continuously improve the journal and increase the quality of its publication.
- The TUJPED Editorial Board determines the basic principles for the determination and implementation of journal policies such as publication, blind review, evaluation process, ethical principles.
- TUJPED Editorial Board protects the copyright of article authors published in the Journal.
- TUJPED Editorial Board is responsible for taking precautions regarding violations of intellectual property rights, scientific and unethical behavior, plagiarism and citation ganging during the publication process of articles and journals.
- The TUJPED Editorial Board prepares an "Author's Guide" containing the information requirements of the author(s) and "Reviewer Guide" containing the information that the reviewers will need during the evaluation phase, and updates them when necessary.
- TUJPED Editorial Board keeps the records of each article and correspondence related to the Journal electronically.

Ethical Responsibilities of Editor, Assistant Editors and Field Editors
- Editors strive to meet the information needs of reviewers, author (s), researchers, practitioners and readers, to provide feedback when necessary, to act according to the principles of clarity in matters that require correction and explanation during the publication process.
- Editors, while deciding on the publication of articles, take care that the articles are original and contribute to the scientific literature, readers, researchers and practitioners.
- When making positive or negative decisions about the articles, editors consider the original value of the articles, their contribution to the field, the validity and reliability of the research method, the clarity of the expression, and the purpose and scope of the Journal.
- Editors take the submitted articles to the pre-evaluation stage unless they have a significant problem, but pay attention to the journal's template and author guidelines, ask for correction and resubmit if necessary, consider positive reviewer suggestions, unless there is a serious problem, they don't change the decisions made by the previous editor(s).
- Editors implement the policies of blind review and evaluation process, which are among the publication policies of the Journal, keep the identities of the reviewers confidential, and ensure that each article is evaluated objectively and within time.
- Editors send the articles by taking into account the field of expertise of the editors and reviewers, and they support the impartial and independent evaluation.
- Editors take into account whether there is a conflict of interest-unity of interest between editors, reviewers and author (s) for unbiased evaluation of the article.
- Editors are in search of a wide range of reviewer pool and is constantly updated.
- Editors prevent unscientific reviews that do not follow academic etiquette.
- Editors ensure that the journal publishing processes are operated in accordance with the publication policies and guidelines, inform their field of duty in the process about the developments in publication policies, and prepare a training program when necessary.
- Editors communicate effectively with everyone involved in the publication process and hold meetings at regular intervals.
- Editors ensure the protection of personal data in reviewed articles; protect individual data of authors, reviewers and readers.
- Editors pay attention to the protection of human and animal rights in the articles, they care about documenting the explicit consent of the participants of the article, and they reject the article when there is no ethics committee approval in research that requires permission.
- Editors take precautions against misconduct. When there are complaints of misconduct, they conduct an objective investigation and share their findings.
- Editors ensure that errors, inconsistencies or misdirection in the articles are corrected.
- Editors protect the intellectual property rights of the published articles and defend the rights of the Journal and authors in case of violation. In addition, they take necessary measures to ensure that the content of published articles does not infringe the intellectual property rights of other publications; they check for originality-similarity.
- Editors take into account the consistent criticism of the articles published in the Journal, and give the right to reply to the authors of the criticized articles.
- Editors also take into account the criticism of studies containing negative results.
- Editors examine the complaints submitted to the Journal and make the necessary explanations.

Ethical Responsibilities of The Reviewers
In the TUJPED article evaluation process, the two-way blind reviewing principle is applied, in which the reviewers of the authors and the reviewers do not recognize the authors, they cannot communicate directly with the authors.
The article evaluation forms and the notes specified on the text and the correction requests are forwarded to the authors by the editors through the Journal Management System (Dergipark).
Reviewers who will review the articles submitted to TUJPED should bear the following ethical responsibilities:
- Reviewers should only agree to review articles related to their field of expertise.
- Reviewers should make the evaluate objectively and confidentially. Nationality, gender, belief, political opinion and commercial concerns should not distort the neutrality of the evaluation.
- When the reviewers understand that there is a conflict of interest or a common interest, they should refuse to review the article and inform the editors.
- Reviewers should make the evaluation in a constructive language in accordance with academic etiquette; avoid comments that may be offensive or personal.
- The reviewers should review the article, which they declared to evaluate, within the time limit.

Ethical Responsibilities of The Authors
1. The manuscript submitted for publication should not have been published in another journal or sent to another journal at the same time. Each application can be started following completion of the previous application. Manuscripts published in another journal cannot be submit to TUJPED.
2. In the Dergipark System, certain periods are given to the authors for various operations (revision, correction, file upload, etc.). Authors must take necessary actions within the time given to them, otherwise the article will be returned or rejected. However, the author may request additional time, provided that he/she presents a valid excuse before the deadline or within a few days after the deadline, the editor/editor board may accept or reject the excuse after evaluating it.

3. Author(s) are required to cite and/or cite completely and accurately when using other studies. APA 6 guidelines should be taken into consideration in citing and creating references.
4. The situations and relationships of all the manuscripts submitted for publication that may constitute a conflict of interest, if any, should be specified.
5. Raw data related to their articles may be requested from the author (s) within the framework of review processes; In such a case, the author (s) should be ready to present the expected data and information to the editorial board.
6. The author(s) must have a document showing that they have the right to use the data used and the necessary permissions for research/measurement tools/analysis.
7. In the event that the author(s) notices a mistake or error in their manuscripts at the OnlineFirst stage or reviewing process, the journal editor or publisher has an obligation to cooperate with the editor in informing, correcting or withdrawing.
8. Before submitting their manuscript to TUJPED, authors should definitely review the guidelines and Journal template, and upload their manuscript to the journal system in accordance with the journal's guidelines and template. Two files of the candidate article must be uploaded, one named and the other anonymous.
9. Authors must also upload the copyright form and ethical declaration forms to the Journal System during the submitting of the manuscripts.

Important note: According to the decision taken by the Editorial Board in January 2021, at least two issues must pass after the last published article in order for the next article of the author whose article is published in our journal to be published. (For example, an author whose article is published in the 1st issue of 2021 (Vol. 6, 1), the next article can be published in the 2nd issue of 2022 (Vol. 7, 2).

TUJPED is a journal with open access to all issues, and no fees are charged to the authors or readers.
