JOURNAL OF AGRICULTURE
Refereeing Process
Blind Review and Evaluation Process
Blind peer review is a method applied to ensure that scientific publications are of the highest quality. This method forms the basis of the objective evaluation of scientific studies and is preferred by many scientific journals. Reviewers' opinions have a decisive role in the publication quality of the Journal of Agriculture and Nature. All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Agriculture and Nature are evaluated blindly according to the following steps.
Blinded Review Type
Journal of Agriculture and Nature uses the double-blinding method in the evaluation process of all studies. In the double-blind method, the identities of the authors and reviewers are concealed.
Initial Evaluation Process
The manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Agriculture and Nature are first evaluated by the editors. At this stage, manuscripts that do not comply with the purpose and scope of the journal, are weak in terms of language and expression rules in Turkish and English, contain critical errors in scientific terms, have no original value and do not meet the publication policies are rejected. Authors of rejected manuscripts are notified within two weeks at the latest from the date of submission. The eligible studies are sent to a Department editor for preliminary evaluation.
Preliminary Evaluation Process
During the pre-evaluation process, the section editors examine the introduction, material and method, findings, conclusion, evaluation and discussion sections of the manuscripts in detail in terms of journal publication policies and scope and originality. As a result of this review, unsuitable manuscripts are returned with the department editor's evaluation report within four weeks at the latest.
Refereeing Process
The manuscripts are sent to referees according to their content and the expertise of the referees. The section editor, who reviews the manuscript, recommends at least two referees from the referee pool of the Journal of Agriculture and Nature according to their areas of expertise or may recommend new referees appropriate to the field of the manuscript. Care is taken to ensure that each referee is from different institutions and not from the same institution as the referees. The referee suggestions received from the department editor are evaluated by the editors and the manuscripts are forwarded to the referees. Reviewers must guarantee that they will not share any process and documents about the studies they evaluate.
Referee Evaluation Process
The time given to the referees for the peer review process is 4 weeks. Corrections received from reviewers or editors must be completed by the authors within 1 month. The reviewers can decide on the appropriateness of a manuscript by reviewing the revisions, or they can request multiple revisions if necessary. The comments received from the reviewers are reviewed by the Section editor within 2 weeks at the latest. As a result of this review, the Section editor submits his/her final decision on the study to the editors.
Editorial Board Decision
The editors prepare the editorial board opinions on the study based on the opinions of the Section editor and referees. The prepared opinions are sent by the editor to the author(s) within 1 week at the latest together with the suggestions of the Section editor and referees. In this process, manuscripts with a negative opinion are returned without requesting a plagiarism check.
