Contributions to the Fauna of Türkiye from the Belgrad Forest, Istanbul: New Data on Staphylinidae (Coleoptera) Species

Abstract

In this study, Staphylinidae species collected during fieldwork conducted in the Belgrad Forest in Istanbul between 2023 and 2024 were examined. Potential habitats for Staphylinidae species were investigated, and specimens were collected using aspirators and sifters. The habitats studied included fungi, stream and lake margins, leaf litter, and carrion, where Staphylinidae species are likely to occur. Specimens collected from these habitats were identified to species level. As a result of this study, 19 species belonging to 17 genera from eight subfamilies were identified. Among these, 11 species represent new records for the Marmara Region, and 14 species are new records for Istanbul, and one species’ (Scaphisoma loebli Tamanini, 1969) locality record was given for the first time with this study.

İstanbul Belgrad Ormanı’ndan Türkiye Faunasına Katkılar: Staphylinidae (Coleoptera) Türlerine Ait Yeni Veriler

Öz

Bu çalışmada, 2023–2024 yılları arasında İstanbul Belgrad Ormanı’nda yürütülen arazi çalışmaları sırasında toplanan Staphylinidae türleri incelenmiştir. Staphylinidae türleri için potansiyel habitatlar araştırılmış ve örnekler emgi ile sifter kullanılarak toplanmıştır. İncelenen habitatlar arasında mantarlar, akarsu ve göl kıyıları, yaprak döküntüleri ve leş gibi Staphylinidae türlerinin bulunma olasılığı yüksek olan ortamlar yer almaktadır. Bu habitatlardan toplanan örnekler tür düzeyinde teşhis edilmiştir. Bu çalışma sonucunda, sekiz alt familyaya ait 17 cinse bağlı toplam 19 tür belirlenmiştir. Bu türlerden 11’i Marmara Bölgesi için, 14’ü ise İstanbul için yeni kayıt niteliğindedir. Ayrıca Scaphisoma loebli Tamanini, 1969 türüne ait yerel kayıt da bu çalışmayla birlikte ilk kez verilmiştir.
