About
The Journal of Anatolian and Balkan Studies (JABS) is a peer-reviewed international journal published biannually (June and December) under the auspices of Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University. Our journal commenced its publication life with the definitive goal of adhering to the highest standards of publication ethics. Ensuring the timely release of issues and maintaining a rigorous peer-review process are among the primary priorities of JABS.
The journal primarily focuses on manuscripts related to Balkan studies. To maintain this thematic balance, a maximum of four (4) manuscripts focusing on Anatolia are included in each issue. Additionally, a maximum of two (2) special/invited articles may be published per issue, without any subject limitations. Beginning with the 16th issue, the journal has discontinued the use of volume numbers and continues its publication cycle strictly as two separate issues per year.
The Anatolian and Balkan geographies, which have continuously influenced each other throughout every era of history, have always been commemorated together due to this deep-seated interaction. Although independent and sovereign states exist across the Balkans today, the historical and cultural bond between this region and Anatolia has endured and will continue to exist in the future. Within this framework, the journal we have established under the title of Anatolian and Balkan Studies serves as a scientific bridge for the historical and ongoing connection between these two regions. Furthermore, our journal reinforces this bridging role by bringing together studies and researchers focusing on Anatolia with those focusing on the Balkans under a single academic umbrella. Indeed, the city of Tekirdağ itself, with its unique geographical location, stands as an unparalleled symbol of this very bridge.
