“Türkiye in the Age of Global Ruptures”
The first quarter of the 21st century has been shaped by multilayered ruptures such as pandemics, regional wars, great power competition, supply chain crises, energy and food security challenges, climate change, and the acceleration of digital transformation. In this period—marked by the erosion of the global order established after the Cold War, and by the growing prominence of multipolarity, uncertainty, and geopolitical tensions—the political, economic, and social capacities of states are being tested once again.
At this historical juncture, Türkiye stands at the center of global ruptures due to both its geographical location and its political and economic dynamics. Situated at the intersection of Europe, the Middle East, the Caucasus, and the Black Sea basin, Türkiye assumes critical roles in the fields of security, migration, energy, trade, and diplomacy. At the same time, it experiences its own internal ruptures through political transformations, economic fluctuations, and processes of social change.
The special issue of our journal titled “Türkiye in the Age of Global Ruptures” aims to examine Türkiye’s position within this multidimensional transformation process from an interdisciplinary perspective. In this context, original contributions are invited on the following themes (but not limited to):
