The Journal ‘Olba’, being published by the ‘Research Center of Cilician Archeology’ of the Mersin University (Türkiye), features archaeological studies containing original findings on Anatolia, the Mediterranean world, and related regions. OLBA's publication language is English.
-OLBA's publication language is English.
-Articles on Prehistory, Protohistory, Classical Archaeology, Classical Philology (and Ancient Languages and Cultures), Ancient History, Numismatics, and Early Christian Archaeology (up to the 7th century AD) are considered for publication.-OLBA is published once a year in May, both in print and electronically.
-Articles must be uploaded to DergiPark between August 31st and October 31st. Articles submitted using other methods will not be considered.
-Authors will be informed of the Editorial Board's evaluation in November. The process for submitting manuscripts to reviewers is expected to be completed in January.
-It is not appropriate for the same author to publish two consecutive issues. This principle also applies if there are different common names.
-The Journal ‘Olba’, is a scientific periodical representing the discipline of archaeology. Therefore, archaeological evaluation is expected to be prioritized in articles whose data are generated through collaboration between different disciplines (such as Surveying Engineering, Architecture, Archaeometry, Geophysics, and Anthropology).
-OLBA publishes 'Research Articles'. Therefore, articles should have content that goes beyond simply introducing material. Articles should be based on a research question/problem, beyond their promotional or catalogue nature, and should be supported by concrete evidence and arguments, with content that discusses data and establishes connections. Archaeological materials, catalogs, reports, and compilations that lack discussion and are disjointed from their context are not eligible for publication in the Journal ‘Olba’.
-A research problem and method must be stated in the introduction sections of articles.
-General information such as excavation history, research history, and material literature should not be included in a way that overshadows the research problem and the materials used to support it.
-Articles should not be solely for presentation purposes, cataloging, describing, and dating the finds.
-It is expected that archaeological finds will be related to their context and used to solve the research problem.
-Studies that include literature surveys are expected to contain new ideas aimed at solving a problem.
-Articles derived from master's and doctoral theses will only be considered for evaluation if the author declares in writing that the text has been improved with new findings.
-Authors whose Master's and Doctoral theses are still in the thesis process must have their theses registered on YÖKTez.
-The names of people who did not contribute to the article should not be written as authors.
-Articles must not have been previously published. Unpublished articles; articles with similar content published in different journals; or articles currently under review in another journal should not be submitted.
-If the article contains previously published quotations, tables, images, etc., the author must obtain written permission from the copyright holder and authors and state this in the article. The author(s) are responsible for obtaining the necessary permissions.
-A publication authorization is required for each article. This document must be uploaded to the system during the article submission process. Depending on the status of the published material, this authorization is expected to be written by the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums, Museum Directorates, Excavation Directorates, Research Directorates, Thesis Advisor, etc. In all types of excavations carried out by Museum Directorates, university faculty members acting as 'scientific consultants' are also expected to obtain a letter of permission from the relevant Museum Directorate, which is the Head of the Excavation.
-Submitted articles are expected to have a similarity rate (ithenticate) that is acceptable for a research article (below 10%).
-OLBA Journal does not charge any fees for publication. Articles published in the journal are openly accessible via DergiPark.
-For OLBA Journal's ethical principles, please see Ethical Principles and Publication Policy.

- The text is expected to be a maximum of 20 pages (approximately 10,000 words, including abstract, references, and footnotes).
- Articles must be written in English and include a 300-word (+/- 50-word) English abstract. Additionally, a 300-word (+/- 50-word) Turkish abstract must be submitted for each article. - ‘Bibliography’ and ‘Abbreviations’ should be placed at the end of the article.
- ‘Abbreviations’ used in footnotes should be explained in the ‘Bibliography’ section.
- The references used in footnotes should be written in abbreviated form, and the order within the abbreviations should be as follows: Author name, publication year, page (and image number if used). This rule should be applied even if a publication is used only once. - Bibliography (for books): Richter 1977 Richter, G., Greek Art, NewYork.

-During the submission process, only the figure layout PDF file should be submitted. After peer review, the figures and specific fonts used in the article will be requested from the authors.
-Figures should not be placed in another program such as Microsoft Word; they should be submitted separately.
-Multiple images, drawings, etc., should not be used under a single figure number. Arrangements grouped under a single figure by the authors will not be accepted. Figures should not contain any symbols, numbers, or other text.
-The authors are responsible for figures taken from other publications; Therefore, sources should be cited.
