Farabi Tıp Dergisi

Farabi Medical Journal (Farabi Med J) is the official, international, peer-reviewed, open-access scientific publication of the Karadeniz Technical University Faculty of Medicine. The journal publishes original clinical and experimental research articles and letters to the editor in the fields of medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, and health sciences. Review articles are considered only upon invitation by the Editorial Board.

Indexing: Farabi Medical Journal is abstracted and indexed in the following national and international databases: TR Index (since 2025), EBSCO (since September 2024), Google Scholar, ROAD (Directory of Open Access Scholarly Resources), OpenAlex, Crossref, SUDOC, and Scilit.

Publication Model and Frequency: As of 2026, Farabi Medical Journal has adopted a Continuous Publication model. Manuscripts that successfully complete the peer-review process and are accepted for publication are published online immediately within a single annual volume, without waiting for a scheduled issue date. This model aims to disseminate current scientific knowledge to the academic community without delay.

Publication Language: The publication language of the journal is English. Abstracts are published in both English and Turkish. For authors who do not speak Turkish, Turkish abstract translation support is provided by the Editorial Office.

Fee Policy (Diamond Open Access): Farabi Medical Journal follows a non-profit Diamond Open Access publication model. No fees, including Article Processing Charges (APCs), are requested from authors at any stage of submission, evaluation, or publication. No royalties are paid to authors for published articles.

Ethical Principles and Plagiarism Policy: For studies involving human or animal subjects, compliance with international ethical standards, including the Declaration of Helsinki, and approval from the relevant ethics committee are mandatory. Approval details must be clearly stated in the Methods section of the manuscript. All submissions undergo plagiarism and similarity screening using iThenticate or intihal.net. Manuscripts with a similarity rate of more than 20% or those involving ethical violations may be rejected. Authorship is defined in accordance with the criteria of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

Artificial Intelligence Policy: Artificial intelligence tools may be used only as supportive tools during the scientific process. However, under no circumstances may they replace human academic responsibility, authorship, or editorial judgment. Full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and scientific integrity of all published content remains with the authors.

Peer Review Process: All submissions are evaluated through a double-blind peer-review process by at least two independent reviewers. Editorial decisions are based on scientific merit, methodological quality, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

Clinical Trial Registration: Clinical trials must be registered in a publicly accessible registry prior to participant enrollment, and the registration number must be provided in the manuscript where applicable.

Data Availability: Authors are encouraged to include a data availability statement indicating whether the data supporting the findings of the study are available and how they can be accessed.

Publication Conditions: Manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original, must not have been published previously, and must not be under consideration by another journal simultaneously.
