Ahmet Sayar received M.Sc. in Computer Science (2001) from Syracuse University and PhD in Computer Science (2009) from Indiana University, USA. Prior to his graduate studies he has worked as a system analyst at Istanbul Natural Gas Distribution Company (IGDAS) for two and half years. He has also worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory (New Mexico, USA) and Community Grids Laboratory (Indiana, USA) as a researcher, during or after his graduate studies. In 2009, he came back to Turkey and was employed as an Asst. Prof. Dr. at Computer Engineering Department at Kocaeli University. He was a Member of Board of Directors at Kocaeli University Institute of Science and Technology from 2016 to 2019. He was a Member of Advisory Committee, TUBİTAK (The Scientific And Technological Research Council Of Turkey), Technology and Innovation Support Programs Presidency (TEYDEB), Bilteg in 2017 and 2018. He is a member of Decision and Evaluation Board for R & D, Innovation and Industrial Application Support Program in Scientific and Technological Research Council of KOSGEB. Ahmet Sayar is currently an Assoc. Professor at Computer Engineering Department at Kocaeli University in Turkey. He is also the Head of Student Affairs in the same university. He is an associate editor for several journals. His current research interests include Distributed Systems, Big Data, Data-Intensive Computing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA). He has (co-)authored 1 book 15 book chapters and around 150 papers.
