Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ergun DEMIREL (Oceangoing Master)
Dr. Demirel graduated from Naval Academy in 1971 and joined Turkish Navy. After Naval War College education in 1980 he commanded destroyers, served in the Navy and Coast Guard HQs as staff officer, Chief of Staff Operations and Chief of Education at Surface Training Centre. He commanded the Turkish Fleet Logistic Division and Midshipmen Regiment of Naval Academy and served as Academic Dean of Naval War College.
He has a master degree in International Relations and doctorate in Maritime Management and Policy. After retirement in 2001, he worked as a lecturer in the Naval War College, Istanbul, Bahçeşehir Universities. He is now Vice Dean of the Maritime Faculty of Piri Reis University. He delivers lectures on Maritime Management, Organization, Cargo and Stability, Fleet Management, Safety Management and Navigation
He has a fellowship from United Kingdom ImarEST (Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology). He is also an associated assessor for level 7.
