Publishing theoretical and practical studies following academic, international scientific criteria, Ege Education Journal would like to promote interaction and create a sharing environment both among experts and between science and society.

Ege Education Journal publishes academic and authentic studies about educational sciences and field studies classified as scientific at national and international level. 

Turkish and English articles are published in the journal. A comprehensive abstract in English is required for Turkish articles and Turkish for English articles.

Author Guidelines

The Ege Journal of Education accepts manuscripts that are prepared in accordance with the Author Guidelines. Authors are advised to use the Manuscript Template for proper formatting. In cases not specified in the Author Guidelines, the publication guide of the American Psychological Association (APA) (6th Edition, 2010) should be taken into consideration. Studies that do not comply with the Author Guidelines will not be taken into consideration.

Ethical Principles

Ege Education Journal follows ethical principles suggested by COPE “Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors" and "COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors". In accordance with these two guides, all the parties are expected to fulfil the responsibilities below:

Ethical Responsibilities of the Authors
  • Authors are expected to be sensitive about the originality of the article they send. In this context, the articles submitted to Ege Education Journal should not be published in another journal and not be sent to a journal to be published; the similarity score should comply with the criteria determined by Ege Education Journal and should include the citations of all the sources used.
  • All individuals whose names are included in the list of authors must be persons who have contributed to the article intellectually. There is no change in the names and rankings of the authors after the application is made.
  • If a situation such as a conflict of interest arises between the authors, this should be reported to the editor.
  • Authors are expected to share the documents, information and data requested by the Editorial Board during the publication process of the article.
  • The authors must have obtained the permission of the Ethics Committee for the research covered by the article and the necessary permissions from the institutions and / or persons that constitute the data source of the research
  • For blind peer review and impartial evaluation, authors should take care to keep their identities confidential during the publishing process.
  • During the publication process of the article or after the publishing, the authors are expected to notify the errors they notice in their articles to the editor of the journal or to the relevant publisher promptly.
Ethical Responsibilities of the Editors
  • The editor must comply with national and international copyright standards.
  • Editors should publish the steps of the evaluation process of the articles.
  • Editors should ensure that the evaluation and publishing process of the articles is qualified and quickened.
  • The Editorial Board should establish an open communication based on freedom of thought with the authors, peer reviewers and readers.
  • Editors should make their positive or negative decisions about the publication of the articles by evaluating the article in terms of consistency with the scientific method.
  • Editors should include the articles that are in the scope of the journal in the evaluation process as long as they do not contain a major problem in terms of method.
  • Editors should publish the List of Spelling Rules to facilitate the processes of authors in the publication evaluation process.
  • Editors must keep the identities of authors and peer reviewers confidential during and after the publishing process.
  • Editors should ensure that peer reviewers create their evaluation reports using descriptive and constructive language.
  • Editors should expand and update the pool of peer reviewers as much as possible.
Ethical Responsibilities of Peer-reviewers
  • Peer reviewers should only accept peer review of articles that fall within their personal expertise and that they believe are competent to evaluate.
  • Peer reviewers should take care to evaluate the articles in an unbiased and objective manner.
  • Peer reviewers should take care to keep their identity confidential for the sake of blind review and impartial review. They should not try to access authors' credentials. If he / she realizes that he / she knows the author (s) of the article when he / she starts the evaluation or during the evaluation, he / she should immediately terminate the peer- reviewing duty and inform the Editorial Board about this issue.
  • Peer reviewers should take care to complete the evaluation process within the given time.
  • Peer reviewers should take care to create the evaluation report for the article in a descriptive and constructive language.
  • Peer reviewers will be able to use the information contained in the article only when the article is published and with reference.
Ethical Responsibilities of the Publisher
  • The publisher ensures the editorial decisions and publishing process to be carried out independently.
  • The publisher provides open, electronic and free access to the journal on the journal's website.
  • The publisher protects the copyrights of all articles published in Ege Education Journal and keeps a record of every unpublished article.
Plagiarism Detection

It is expected that the articles sent to Ege Education Journal will not be self-plagiarised or plagiarised from other authors. The authors are asked to obtain a similarity report during the application and decision phase in order to determine the originality of the article. The similarity score should be 15% or below.

Publishing Policy

The publishing process of the articles sent to Ege Education Journal works as follows:

Pre-control Phase. The preparation of the article according to the similarity acceptance rate, spelling rules and template determined by Ege Education Journal and its compliance with the scope of the journal and scientific method are pre-checked. At this phase, the Editorial Board and the Publishing Board may decide to accept or reject the article or request a correction. Authors can withdraw their articles at this phase.

Evaluation Phase. The article is evaluated by at least two peer reviewers. Taking into account of the peer reviewers' evaluations, authors can be asked to make corrections. Authors are expected to make the requested corrections within 15 days. The authors reserve the right not to make these corrections, provided that their reasons are explained in written form. Authors are asked to obtain an originality report for their articles. Considering the evaluation results of the peer reviewers and the similarity report, the Editorial Board and the Publishing Board decide whether the article can be published in the journal or not.

Editing of the Article. The article decided to be published is examined by the redactional and technical staff of Ege Education Journal. At this stage, corrections may be requested from the authors in terms of grammar and spelling rules and formal arrangements. If the authors make the arrangements at this stage, the article will be published. Otherwise, the Editorial Board and the Publishing Board may decide not to publish the article.

The publication process of an article in Ege Education Journal takes an average of 8 months from the date of submission.

The publisher of Ege Education Journal, Ege University Faculty of Education has adopted the principle of publishing in terms of dedication to public interest and not seeking any profit. Therefore, no fee is charged from the authors for the evaluation or publication of their manuscript. For readers, open, electronic and free access to the journal is provided on the journal's web page.
