Generative AI Policy

The TUHED Editorial Board has formulated the following guidelines concerning the utilization of generative artificial intelligence tools and/or AI-supported programs during the research, reporting, and evaluation phases of academic endeavors:

For authors:
• Under no circumstances may artificial intelligence and related tools be credited as authors.
• Authors hold the responsibility for ensuring the accuracy, neutrality, and authenticity of references found in AI outputs. Fabricated citations produced by AI are deemed an ethical breach.
• AI tools must not be cited in references as an author or work; they may only be referenced in the methodology or acknowledgments section.
• Authors are permitted to employ generative artificial intelligence tools and/or AI-assisted programs in their research and reporting activities, provided they comply with the principles of accountability and transparency.
Accountability: All scientific and ethical responsibilities associated with the application of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in the research and writing of articles rest with the author(s).
Transparency: Should the author(s) utilize generative AI tools or AI-assisted programs in their work, they are obligated to declare this in the "Statement of Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI):" section at the end of the article. This statement should extend beyond merely listing the names of the tools employed. It must detail which AI tool was utilized in which section of the article (e.g., Introduction, Method, Discussion, etc.) and for what specific purpose. If several AI tools or supported programs were employed, the name of each tool, the section in which it was applied, and the purpose of its application must be distinctly outlined.
Visuals: In research where artificial intelligence is the focal point (e.g., "The Use of Generative AI in History Education") images generated or altered by artificial intelligence may be included. In studies that do not fit this definition, images produced or modified by artificial intelligence are not permissible!

For reviewers;
• Submitting the article to artificial intelligence tools infringes upon the author's privacy and copyright, thus reviewers are prohibited from utilizing generative artificial intelligence tools throughout the review process!

For editors;
• Editors are not allowed to employ generative AI tools during the review process!
• Language editors may utilize generative AI tools to rectify spelling mistakes and enhance phrasing.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

New Publication Policy:

TUHED will begin implementing the Continuous Publication system, which has become widely used in international academic publishing in recent years, as of January 1, 2026.

In this system, articles that have successfully completed the review process and received acceptance for publication will be made available without delay for the issue publication date. The publication date of each article will be utilized in place of the issue date. In contrast to our previous Early View publication policy, every article published under this new system will feature issue, page, and DOI information.

It is important to note that this modification will not impact the article review and acceptance procedures.
