Bio

Sema Keleş Yıldız is an economic historian who is interested in Ottoman economic history, world economic history, and women’s labor history. She received her BA degree in economics from Uludag University in 2009. She started to work as a research assistant at Rize University in the Department of Economics/Economic History in 2010. She received her MA degree in economic history from Marmara University in 2013 with the thesis titled "Weaving in the Rize Economy during Ottoman Empire," and she received her Ph.D. degree in economic history from the same university in 2019 with a dissertation titled "Social and Economic Life in Bursa in the First Half of the 18th Century." Sema worked as a research assistant at Marmara University during her graduate education between 2012 and 2019. Sema Keleş Yıldız, who has been working as a research assistant at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University, Department of Economics, Department of Economic History since 2019, carries out her studies on "History of Women's Labor" as a visiting scholar at Harvard University Center for Middle Eastern Studies in the 2022-2023 academic year.
