TEACHERS’ OPINIONS ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TOOLS USED IN EDUCATION (THE CASE OF KIRŞEHIR)

Abstract

This study, which examines the extent to which teachers are familiar with and use the AI tools introduced in the AI tools handbook prepared by the Ministry of National Education (MEB) for teachers, as well as teachers' opinions on the use of AI tools, adopts the phenomenological research design from among qualitative research designs. The study group consists of 30 teachers working in public and private schools affiliated. The data collected through the interview form, which served as the data collection tool, was subjected to content analysis. The data obtained from the participants revealed that very few AI tools are known and therefore used in private and public institutions. It was observed that the frequency of AI tool use is higher in private schools than in public schools. It was found that participants with fewer years of experience prefer to use AI tools more frequently. The study concluded that AI tools will replace teachers in the future, personalized education will come to the fore, communication skills will weaken, students will become more inclined to take the easy way out rather than simply accessing information more easily, and teacher training will need to accelerate in the age of technology.
