ANALYSIS OF STUDIES ON THE TÜRKİYE YÜZYILI MAARİF MODEL: CURRENT STATUS AND IDENTIFICATION OF RESEARCH GAPS

Abstract

The Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Modeli has emerged as a student-centered and holistic educational approach aimed at restructuring Turkey’s education system by prioritizing 21st-century skills and national values. The model seeks to cultivate individuals who do not merely consume information, but who structure and produce knowledge, by equipping students with essential competencies such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and digital literacy. The aim of this study is to conduct an in-depth analysis of the existing literature on the Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Modeli in order to identify general academic trends, key concepts, research gaps, and methodological limitations. The study examined 28 articles published in DergiPark, and the data were evaluated using bibliometric analysis and meta-synthesis methods. The results of the analysis indicate that academic research on the Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Modeli is still in its early stages, and that its theoretical framework needs to be further transferred into practical, field-based applications. It was observed that existing studies are predominantly concentrated in the fields of Turkish language education, social sciences, and curriculum development, whereas critical areas such as philosophy and sociology of education, inclusive education, and teacher training remain underexplored.
