Millî Eğitim Journal upholds the principles of accuracy, academic reliability, and scientific integrity. Accordingly, when errors, ethical violations, or misleading elements are identified in a published article, correction (Correction / Erratum) or retraction procedures are implemented depending on the nature and severity of the issue.
1. Correction (Correction / Erratum)
When omissions in source citation, issues requiring technical editing, or corrections to the authors’ institutional information, contact details, or ORCID data arise, a correction note is issued for the article and added to its online version.
The correction notice is transparently appended beneath the article and is linked to its DOI number.
2. Retraction
An article is retracted under the following circumstances:
• Plagiarism,
• Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data,
• Inappropriate authorship practices (guest, gift, or omitted authorship),
• Duplicate publication or self-plagiarism,
• Manipulation of the peer-review process,
• Violation of ethical standards in data collection or absence of required ethical approval.
Retraction decisions are made by the Editorial Board in accordance with the COPE Retraction Flowchart.
For retracted articles:
• The article is not removed from the journal website,
• A clear “Retracted” notice and the justification for the retraction are displayed on the article page,
• All relevant indexes and databases are formally notified.
3. Notification of Authors and Institutions
Before a correction or retraction is finalized:
• The author(s) are informed,
• A written explanation may be requested regarding the identified ethical concern,
• In multi-authored manuscripts, all authors share collective responsibility.
When necessary, the relevant university, institution, or funding agency is also notified.
4. Transparency Principle
Correction and retraction notices are made publicly available with full justification.
The journal does not conduct retraction procedures confidentially and does not alter or remove published notices retroactively.
5. Right to Appeal
Authors may appeal a correction or retraction decision by submitting documented evidence and a formal justification.
Appeals are reviewed by the Editorial Board, and the final decision is communicated to the author in writing.
