Ozata was born in 1982 in Giresun/Bulancak, he completed his primary and secondary education in Trabzon, Balıkesir, Tekirdağ and Ordu respectively. In 2005, he graduated from Boğaziçi University, Department of History. In 2008, he completed his master's degree at Istanbul University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of History with his thesis titled "Turkey-US Relations at the End of the Second World War (1943-1945)". In 2009, he started to work at Giresun University as a research assistant. In 2010, he was a visiting researcher at Georgia State University in the USA. In 2011, he completed his PhD education at Istanbul University Institute of Social Sciences, by defending his thesis titled "Turkish-American Relations (1971-1984)". In 2022-2023, he was a visiting scholar at the University of Maryland in the USA for 1 year and conducted studies on the History of Turkish Democracy in the American National Archives with the support of TUBITAK. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor at Department of History in Giresun University.
