Review Process

Review Process

The International Journal of Agriculture, Environment and Food Sciences  implements a rigorous double-blind peer review system to ensure scientific quality, editorial transparency, and ethical publishing standards. Both reviewers and authors remain anonymous throughout the process.
Manuscripts are only considered if they have not been previously published or submitted elsewhere.

Initial Editorial Check
After submission, each manuscript undergoes a preliminary technical check by the editorial office to confirm:
- Compliance with submission guidelines
- Completion of all required metadata and supporting documents
- Formatting using the official manuscript template
- Plagiarism screening via iThenticate or İntihal.net
Manuscripts with a similarity index above 24% are returned to the authors without further processing.
Only compliant submissions proceed to editorial assessment.

Editorial Pre-Evaluation
The Editor-in-Chief assesses the manuscript’s:
- Relevance to the journal’s scope
- Originality and scientific contribution
- Methodological soundness and ethical compliance
- Language quality and clarity
Manuscripts that do not meet these minimum requirements may be desk rejected without external review. Authors are strongly encouraged to have their manuscripts checked by a native English speaker prior to submission.

Editorial Processing Charge (EPC)
Following editorial pre-approval, authors are required to pay the Editorial Processing Charge (EPC) before the manuscript enters the peer review process.

Peer Review Process
Each manuscript is sent to at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the subject area. Reviewers evaluate submissions based on:
- Originality and novelty
- Scientific and methodological rigor
- Clarity of results and discussion
- Relevance to the field
- Ethical standards
The journal uses a double-blind review system, where both author and reviewer identities are concealed.

Reviewer Recommendations
Based on their evaluation, reviewers may recommend one of the following outcomes:
- Accept
- Minor Revision
- Major Revision
- Reject
Reviewer comments are shared with the authors via the submission system.

Author Revisions
If revisions are requested, authors must:
- Revise the manuscript according to the reviewers’ comments
- Clearly highlight all changes (e.g., using colored text or track changes)
- Submit a detailed Response Letter explaining how each comment was addressed, or provide a justified reason if not
Authors are allowed up to 30 days to submit revised manuscripts. Requests for deadline extensions should be made in advance.
Failure to respond within the specified time may result in withdrawal of the submission.

Final Editorial Decision
After evaluating the revised version, the Editor-in-Chief may:
- Accept the manuscript
- Request further revisions
- Forward it for another round of peer review
- Reject the submission
Additional reviewers may be consulted when necessary. The final decision is made based on scientific merit and reviewer input.

Galley Proof and Final Approval
Accepted manuscripts undergo the production phase, which includes:
- Technical editing and formatting
- English language editing (if needed)
- Generation of the galley proof, which is sent to the corresponding author for final review and approval
Authors must review the typeset file and return corrections promptly.

Publication and Archiving
Once approved, the article is published online with a DOI and becomes citable. All articles are permanently archived and accessible via:
Journal Archive
