This page brings together everything you need in order to prepare, submit, and follow a manuscript submitted to the International Journal of Agriculture, Environment and Food Sciences. Detailed requirements are given on the pages linked below; this page summarises the process and the documents you will need.

Before You Submit

The journal publishes original research articles only. Review articles, short communications, case studies, letters to the editor, editorials, and book reviews are not considered.

A manuscript must report the results of an original investigation carried out by the authors, based on data they have generated through field, glasshouse, or laboratory research. Studies consisting solely of questionnaires, literature compilation, or modelling without supporting experimental data are not considered.

Priority is given to studies whose findings have relevance beyond the particular site, season, or cultivar examined, and which contribute to understanding of the processes involved. Manuscripts reporting routine or confirmatory trials conducted at a single location in a single season, and screening or characterisation exercises presented without interpretation, are normally declined at editorial screening. Please consider these criteria, together with the journal's Aim and Scope, before preparing your submission.

Submission Checklist

• The manuscript is prepared using the journal's Manuscript Template and complies with the Author Guidelines.
• The work is original, has not been published previously in whole or in substantial part, and is not under consideration elsewhere.
• The Compliance with Ethical Standards section is complete, including the Ethics Committee Approval, Data Availability, and Generative AI statements.
• References follow APA 7th edition and include DOIs where available.
• The Ethics Statement and Approval Form and the Copyright and License Agreement are signed by all authors.
• Where ethics committee approval is required, the official approval document is ready for upload.

The Publication Process at a Glance

1. Submission. The manuscript and the required forms are uploaded through the online submission system.
2. Editorial screening. The Editorial Office assesses the manuscript against the screening criteria set out on the Peer Review Process page, covering scope, article type, originality, formatting compliance, ethical documentation, and similarity. Manuscripts rejected or returned at this stage are not charged.
3. Editorial Processing Charge. For manuscripts that pass screening, an invoice is issued before peer review begins. The charge is a submission fee and is not conditional on acceptance; no article processing charge is levied on acceptance. See the Price Policy page for amounts, refund conditions, and the waiver policy.
4. Peer review. Double-blind review by at least two independent reviewers. Target periods for each stage are given on the Peer Review Process page; the intervals actually achieved in the preceding year are reported on the Statistics page.
5. Decision and revision. Revised manuscripts are submitted together with a point-by-point Response to Reviewers, prepared using the journal's template, and a revised manuscript in which all changes are visibly marked.
6. Publication. Accepted articles are copy-edited, typeset, and published online with a DOI assigned, under the CC BY 4.0 license, with copyright retained by the authors.

Incomplete submissions do not proceed to peer review.

Author Rights and Responsibilities

Authors retain the copyright of their published work without restriction and may deposit the submitted, accepted, and published versions in institutional or subject repositories without embargo. Authorship must follow the ICMJE criteria, and individual contributions must be declared using the CRediT taxonomy. All conflicts of interest and sources of funding must be disclosed. The full requirements are set out in the Ethical Principles and Publication Policy.

Authors may appeal an editorial decision or raise an ethical concern by writing to the Editorial Office at editorialoffice@jaefs.com, stating the manuscript identifier and the grounds for the appeal. Appeals are acknowledged within 7 working days and are assessed by an editor who was not involved in the original decision, in accordance with COPE guidance.
