Instructions to Authors
The International Journal of Agriculture, Environment and Food Sciences is an open-access, peer-reviewed scientific journal publishing original research in English. The journal is issued quarterly (March, June, September, December) and implements a double-blind peer review to ensure the integrity and quality of the scholarly record.
This page provides detailed guidance for manuscript preparation, submission, ethical standards, and post-submission procedures.
Article Types
The journal accepts only Original Research Articles that present scientifically valid, original findings contributing to agriculture, environment, or food sciences. Review articles, case reports, or short communications are not accepted.
Language Requirements
All submissions must be written in fluent, clear, and grammatically correct academic English. Authors whose first language is not English are strongly encouraged to seek professional language editing prior to submission.
Manuscript Format and Structure
Authors must prepare manuscripts using the journal’s official Word template. Structure in the following order:
- Title
- Abstract (300–400 words)
- Keywords (3–6 relevant terms)
- Introduction
- Materials and Methods
- Results
- Discussion
- Conclusion
- Acknowledgments (optional)
- Conflict of Interest Statement
- References (APA 7th Edition)

Online Submission and Metadata
Submit via the DergiPark Submission System. During submission:
- All authors must be registered in DergiPark.
- Enter author names, affiliations, e-mails, and ORCID iDs in the metadata.
- Provide the abstract and references in the metadata.
- Submissions lacking complete metadata will be returned without review.
Required Submission Documents
Upload the following as separate files:
- Manuscript File – In the official template and anonymized (no author names/affiliations).
- Ethics Statement and Approval – For studies involving humans/animals.
- Copyright and License Agreement – Signed by all authors.

Ethical Approval and Compliance
For studies involving human or animal subjects, Ethics Committee Approval is mandatory. State approval information in the manuscript and upload the approval document during submission.
The journal adheres to: COPE, CSE, and the Higher Education Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Guidelines (Türkiye). For details, see the Ethical Principles and Publication Policy.
Review Process and Revisions
All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers.
- Out-of-scope/low-priority/non-compliant submissions may be desk-rejected by the Editor-in-Chief.
- For revisions, respond point-by-point to reviewers and resubmit within 30 days (request extensions in advance).
- After acceptance, changes to author names or order are not permitted.
Editorial Processing Charges (EPC)
The journal does not charge submission or APC fees. However, an Editorial Processing Charge (EPC) must be paid before peer review begins. For current fees and instructions, see the Price Policy page.
Copyright and Licensing
Authors retain copyright of their work. Articles are published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0), allowing unrestricted use with proper attribution.
Responsibilities and Misconduct
Authors are responsible for originality, accuracy, and ethical compliance. The journal has zero tolerance for:
- Plagiarism, duplicate/submitted elsewhere, salami slicing
- Data fabrication/falsification; image manipulation
- Authorship misrepresentation or peer-review manipulation
Violations may result in rejection or retraction, following COPE guidance.
Reporting Standards and Required Statements
- Data Availability Statement (mandatory): State where the data supporting the findings can be accessed (public repository link, upon reasonable request, or justification for restrictions).
- Author Contributions (CRediT): Specify roles (e.g., Conceptualization, Methodology, Investigation, Writing – original draft, Writing – review & editing, Supervision, Funding acquisition, etc.).
- Funding Statement: Declare all funding sources or state “No funding was received”.
- Conflict of Interest: Declare all potential conflicts, or state “The authors declare no conflict of interest”.
- Ethics Approval & Consent: Provide committee name/ID and whether informed consent/assent was obtained where applicable.
- Third-Party Permissions: Confirm permissions for copyrighted figures/tables/scales where required.
Preprints and Conference Papers
Preprints are allowed provided that authors disclose the preprint DOI/URL at submission and in the manuscript. Submissions based on conference papers must include substantial new content and disclose prior presentation details.
AI-Assisted Writing and Tools
If AI tools are used (e.g., for language polishing), this must be disclosed in the manuscript (e.g., “The authors used AI tools for grammar/language editing; all content was reviewed and approved by the authors”). AI tools cannot be listed as authors and are not responsible for the content.
Post-Publication Policies (Corrections, Retractions, Appeals, Complaints)
The journal follows COPE guidance for post-publication issues, including corrections, retractions, and expressions of concern. Authors may appeal editorial decisions with a reasoned letter to the Editor-in-Chief. Complaints are handled by the editorial office transparently and without undue delay. Research Data and Archiving
Authors are encouraged to deposit data in recognized repositories (e.g., institutional, subject-specific, or general repositories) and cite dataset DOIs. The journal ensures long-term preservation through established archiving solutions.
