Manuscript Rules

A-GENERAL RULES

1.    The manuscripts must be uploaded as word file by corresponding author.

2.    If the manuscripts are research article or technical notes; manuscripts must contain Title, ABSTRACT, Keywords, INTRODUCTION, MATERIALS AND METHODS, RESULTS AND DISCUSSION, CONCLUSION, ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS (If any), REFERENCES sections.  

3.    If they are review, they must contain again Title, ABSTRACT, Keywords, INTRODUCTION, CONCLUSION and REFERENCES sections. If the authors want to add new section for review, they can add between the INTRODUCTION and CONCLUSION sections.

4.    The titles of the main sections of the manuscripts must be typed bold and via capital letters. For second degree titles, first letter of the words must be typed as capital and bold, and for third degree titles, first letter of the first word must be typed as capital and bold.

5.    The 6 nk space must be left before and after of main headings. In subheadings, only the 6 nk space must be left between the previous paragraphs. The spaces should not be left after the subtitle.

6.    The main headings and subheadings should not be numbered.

7.   The title of the manuscripts must be organized as short, clear. The first letters of the words must be uppercase and other words lowercase. It not exceeds 14 words and, the first letters of the words of the titles (except “and”, “with” …like words) must be typed as capital. The title must be bold and, Author(s) is not allowed to use abbreviation in the title. 

 

B-PAGE FORMAT RULES


1.      The text must be written in Times New Roman, 12 font size, 1.15 cm line spacing. The font size of the abstract can be reduced to squeeze the abstract to the first page of the manuscripts.

2.    Author(s) must adjust margins as top 2.5 cm, bottom 1.5 cm, left 1.9 cm and right 1.6 cm.

3.    Line numbers must be given on each page as starting from one.

4.    Except Title, the rest of the article should be written as justified, and 1 cm indentation must be left at the beginning of the each paragraph.

5.    Total numbers pages of the manuscripts should not be exceed 12, 5 and 13 pages for original research articles, technical notes and reviews, respectively.

C-ABSTRACT AND KEYWORDS

1.    Abstract of the manuscripts should not be exceeded 250 words, and authors must be avoided from abbreviation and citation.

2.    Keywords should be placed after abstracts and must be at least 3 words and maximum 6 words. The first letter of the first keyword must be capitalized and the other keywords must be written in lowercase. Furthermore, the keywords must be must be separated via comma (,).

 

D-IMAGES AND TABLES

1.    All Figures and Tables must be given on the vertical page. If the table does not fit in a vertical page, they can be divided into two parts and shown as table continuation. Horizontal page structure should not be used.

2.    Author(s) must be used “Figure” and “Table” for figures and tables. In addition, “Figure 1.” and “Table 1.” expressions in the table and figures writings. The expressions and footnotes belonging to figures and tables must be places bottom of them as between 8 and 10 font size and, author(s) should not put dot at the end of this expressions or footnotes.

3.    The figures must be centered on the page, and the tables must be justified or justified to the right of the page. Tables should not have vertical lines.

4.    Table writings must be placed before table as between 9 and 12 font size but the contents of the table can be typed between 8 and 12 font size. Figures, graphs, images and like them must be evaluated as figures and their writings must be given under the figures. Tables and Figures must be placed to related place in text and should not be placed at the end of manuscripts.

E-TYPING EQUATION

1.    Equations must be numbered, and numbers must be given as align to right in the bracket. They must be typed as 12 font size, and variables must be italic but digits as normal. When the author(s) is citing the equations, they must use the expression “Equation 1.”  

F-CITING THE ARTİCLE

1.    If the cited article is published by one author, by two authors, for more authors, they must be typed as (Last name, year), (Last name and Last name, year) and (Last name et al., year) in the text, respectively.

2.    If the author(s) want to cite more than one article in one point, they must separate the citation by a semicolon (;) and organized them chronologically (Last name, 1977; Last name et al., 2013)

3.    If the author(s) cite a website, they must be used (Anonymous, year).

 

G- UNITS AND NUMBERS

1.    Author(s) must be used units of the System International in all manuscripts.

2.    While the typing decimal number, authors must use dot (.) instead of comma (,) in decimal (instead of 20,23 type as 20.23).

3.    In the units, they are not allowed to use “/” sign, instead of it, they must put a space then, type as superscript (instead of g/L, type g L-1).

4.    Typing the big numbers, numbers must be separated as in threes by space (instead of 100000, type as 100 000).

 

H-REFERENCES SECTION

 

1.    References must be typed between 10 and 12 font size, via 1 cm hanging indent and in alphabetical order.

2.    The journal and conference names should not abbreviated by authors. The format references must be typed in below:

I- SUBMITTING THE MANUSCRIPT TO THE SYSTEM

1.    When the manuscripts information is entering to the journal system, full name of the author(s) and their affiliations must be typed as clear and should not be used abbreviations and any academic title.

2.    In the manuscript, authors do not allow to type their names and affiliations in the manuscript because of double blind review system. They must type their names and affiliations in the cover page.

3.     When the manuscripts are submitting to journal, authors must upload copyright transfer form which is signed by all authors, ethical board reports (if any) and confirm check list.

4.    Tables and figures must be given in the main document which should not be loaded as an additional file.

5.    Plagiarism report (according to iThenticate) must be uploaded. Plagiarism should be below 20% (excluding references).

 

JOURNAL OF THE INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF THE AUTHORS, EDITORS AND REVIEWERS

Publication Ethics
Users of Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology (editors, authors, reviewers, department editors, readers) must obey to the ethical rules and responsibilities specified by Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) that we have shared on our Dergipark page. These ethical rules and responsibilities are summarized below.

Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
• Authors prepare and send their manuscripts in original form.
• The authors ensure that their citations and quotations in their manuscripts are accurate and complete.
• Authors should indicate and explain situations in which they may be involved in conflicts of interest.
• The editors, department editors or the reviewers can request raw data from the author of the manuscripts. Therefore, the author must keep the raw data of the article ready for submission.
• Ethical reports must be submitted by the author together with the article, when necessary.
• Authors are obliged to inform the journal authorities in case of any errors and inaccuracies about the article during any of the pre-control, evaluation, proofreading and publishing stages.
• One article cannot be processed in two different journals at the same time. Even if the overall process is completed in a journal and the article is rejected. In other words, an article published in another journal cannot be sent to Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology.
•In order to add an author, change the order of the authors or omit an author for an article on process for publishing on Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology, an application with the approval of all contributing authors is required. Journal management reviews the application and notifies the corresponding author about the decision.

Ethical Duties and Responsibilities of Editors
The editors of Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology should be obeyed to the ethical roles and responsibilities of “CODE OF CONDUCT AND BEST PRACTICE GUIDELINES FOR JOURNAL EDITORS” and “COPE BEST PRACTICE GUIDELINES FOR JOURNAL EDITORS” announced by Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and provided on our Dergipark webpage. These duties and responsibilities are summarized below.

Editors’ Relationships with Readers
The editors are responsible for taking into account the feedback from the readers, researchers and practitioners about the published works and to provide the necessary responses and take necessary actions.

Editors’ Relations with the Authors
• Editors make decisions about the articles based on the original value of the article, the aims of the journal and the ethical rules.
• Editors should accept papers with high original value, based on journal objectives and ethical rules for the evaluation process.
• The editors should take into account positive opinions of the reviewers unless there is an important reason.
• Requests and feedback from the authors should be returned with feedback.

Editors’ Relations with the Reviewers
• The reviewers to be appointed must be selected from related area of the manuscript.
• The editor should make sure that there is no conflict of interest between the reviewers and the authors.
• The editor is responsible for guiding the reviewers during the article evaluation process and for providing the requested information.
• The editor is obliged to hide the credentials of the author and the reviewers by means of blind reviewing.
• The editor must make the necessary warnings to the reviewers about evaluating the article in a timely, impartial and scientific manner.
• The editor must make an effort to increase the number of reviewers.

Editors’ Relations with Advisory Board
Editors should consider the opinions and recommendations of the advisory board about the articles.

Editors’ Relations with the Journal Owner and the Publisher
Editorial decisions should be independent of the journal owner and the publisher.

Publication of the Article
Editors are responsible for considering publishing principles, journal objectives and international standards in the articles to be published in the journal.

Retention of Personal Data
Editors are responsible for not transferring the personal information to third parties except for the consent of the authors.

Ethics committee, Human and Animal Rights
The editors are responsible for protecting the human and animal rights at about manuscript in the studies conducted on humans and animals. The editor is responsible for rejecting the article if ethics committee approval is not sent in the works that must provide ethics committee report.

Protection of intellectual property rights
Editors are responsible for protecting the intellectual property rights of all articles submitted and published in the journal.

Complaints to Editors
Editors are responsible for providing an open and enlightening answer to complaints from the reviewers, authors and readers.

Conflicts of interest and relations
Editors are responsible for taking action against conflicts of interest between authors, reviewers and third parties in order to complete the impartial and independent evaluation processes of the articles.

Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
• The reviewers are responsible for not evaluating the article if there is a conflict and relationship of interest.
• The reviewers are responsible for evaluating the article with due regard to the principles of confidentiality and impartiality.
• The reviewers cannot use the work sent to them for any purpose until the evaluation process is completed and issued.
• When evaluating the manuscripts, the reviewers are responsible for not allowing the gender, nationality, religious beliefs, or political views of the authors to have an influence on the evaluation.
• The reviewers should use a gentle and constructive language when evaluating the article and should avoid insulting, defaming and hostile comments and statements.
• The reviewers are responsible for evaluating the article in a timely and ethical manner.

PUBLICATION ETHICS AND ARTICLE EVALUATION PROCESSES

Aim and scope
The aim of this journal is to publish works prepared in the field of horticulture, plant protection, plant and animal production, biology, bio-system engineering, environmental engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, physics, food engineering, civil engineering, chemistry, mechanical engineering, mathematics, molecular biology and genetics, forest engineering, landscape architecture, aquaculture, agricultural economics, agricultural mechanization, agricultural structures and irrigation, field crops, soil science and plant nutrition and zoo-technics. Igdir University Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology is a quarterly journal which accepts original research and review studies in the field of Engineering and Science.

Open Access Policy
The articles published in Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology are available with open access in full text. We believe that this will be good contribution to science.

Privacy Statement
Confidential information about the articles published on the web page of Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology and the articles at about the evaluation stage will be used only for the explained purposes of the journal and shall not be open for any other purpose or for use by other people.

Publication Fee
Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology does not require any transaction and publication fees for the articles submitted to the journal.

Archiving
All the manuscripts as full text, the contents of the journal, the cover page and the complete files of each issue of Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology are archived on Dergipark system and are available to all users.

Advertising and Sponsorship
Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology does not accept any advertising or sponsorship and does not include them on the publication page.

Plagiarism policy
Articles submitted to Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology are controlled via a plagiarism software except for the references. The similarity rate must be below 20% for each article.

Copyright Transfer Agreement

All authors must be accepted and declared that
1. All kinds of publication rights belong to Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology.
2. The manuscript complies with the rules of publication specified by the journal,
3. The article is original and is not previously published or not under the evaluation process for publication,
4. Scientific and ethical responsibility belongs to authors and in case that other authors cannot be reached; all authors are aware of the work and that the responsibilities of other authors are taken over by the first author of the article.

The authors of all articles submitted to Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology should sign the Copyright Transfer Agreement stated above. This contract text should be downloaded on article submission page and uploaded to the system after signed by all authors

Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology (JIST) does not charge any transaction and publication fee for the articles.
