AI & Publication Ethics Policy

Sinop Journal of Social Sciences upholds the highest standards of publication ethics and transparency.

1. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Authors must disclose any use of generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot) in the writing, editing, or data analysis stages.

AI tools cannot be listed as authors.

When AI tools are used, authors must include a statement in the acknowledgments (e.g., “ChatGPT was used for language editing”).

The editorial team uses AI-assisted tools only for plagiarism detection and language checking.

2. Publication Ethics

The journal adheres to COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) principles.

All manuscripts are checked for originality via similarity detection software.

Conflicts of interest, human subject ethics, and author contributions must be declared.

3. Misuse of AI

Manuscripts containing undisclosed or falsified AI-generated content will be rejected or retracted according to COPE guidelines.

NOTE: The Sinop Journal of Social Sciences supports the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in scientific writing. AI tools may be used only to assist in language editing, formatting, or improving the readability of a manuscript. They cannot generate the research idea, perform data analysis, interpret results, or provide scientific insight.

Authors must clearly disclose any use of AI tools by specifying the tool name, version, purpose, and the human modifications made afterward. AI systems cannot be credited as authors. All responsibility for the manuscript’s content and accuracy lies solely with the human authors.
Submissions will be considered only after the human authors have reviewed and approved the final version. Any AI-generated or modified visual materials (tables, graphs, images) must include explicit source information. Failure to comply with this policy constitutes an ethical violation and may result in rejection or retraction of the article.
